Chapter 5

We entered into a huge foyer with at least ten foot ceilings, and a beautiful crystal chandelier. The room also had stairs on each side that met in the middle with a small landing, then one more set going up to what looked like a part of a hallway that looked over into the living room that was directly in front of us. To the right looked to be a formal dinning area, and to the left there was a set of french doors, and a room that held book cases full of books, I loved to read, but that wasn't what held my attention. In the middle of the room was a grand piano, if the house had been a trailer, but it still held that piano it would have been just as amazing.

"Oh my..." I said.

Luke just smiled at me and said, "Come on, beautiful, there are people who are dieing to meet you."

"You had me at beautiful." I said, and was rewarded a warm smile from Luke.

I smiled back as he pulled me under the stairs and to the living room where there was a group of ladies sitting on the huge leather sofa talking quietly and looking concerned, while the men stood by the wall of glass that over looked the river talking to Cayne intently about something. When everyone saw that we were there, one lady and a man who looked like an older version of Luke came to greet us.

I let go of his hand and stepped back, so they could have him to their selves. He threw me a look that said get your butt back over here, just as his mother threw her arms around him. "Oh Luke, we missed you so much." She said, through the tears that I could see falling.

"I missed you too Mom." Luke said.

His mom let go and stepped back, so his father could come hug him. Caynes dad said he looks more like his grandfather everyday, but he looks nearly identical to his father. "Missed you Son. It's great to have you home safe."

"Thanks Dad, I missed you."

As soon as they were done, everyone else ran up to hug him. All five of the woman were crying, and I could see the four men wanted to too, but were trying to be tough. I saw that Cayne and his dad, whose name I had forgotten, were still standing by the window so I went to go stand by someone that was at least semi familiar. They all looked so happy, one big happy family. My chest began to ache, remembering what that used to be like, to have a happy family. I wrapped my arms tighter around myself and waited for everything to calm down. Just as the adults were done, I heard the sound of running up stairs and saw three little boys and one girl come running down the steps.

"Luke!" the boys yelled, while the little girl who had to be three or four yelled, "Caynie!"

"At least somebody appreciates me." Cayne said, as he bent down to scoop her up. The boys were busy hounding Luke about something, but I couldn't hear what over all the noise.

"I missed you Caynie. Don't ever weave again. Okay?" The girl said with her small arms tight around Caynes neck.

"I'll do my best." Cayne said.

"Hi, my name is Lizzie." Lizzie said, smiling at me. "What's your name?"

"Hello Lizzie, I'm Jocelyn." I said smiling back at her.

Her eyes lit up big as she said, "I have a dolly named Jocelyn!!"

"Really? That's awesome."

"I go get her!! You would love her!!" Lizzie said, hopping down from Caynes arms very gracefully for a three year old. She reminded me so much of Hayley. Hayley! Crap! I looked at the clock that was above the tv, it was nearly 2:00. School got out at 3:00, I would have to be back soon. Hayley had gymnastics tonight, I couldn't miss that. Plus, she had to be ready and at the meet by 4:30.
