Lydia
Nathan's deep morning voice shook Lydia out of her slumber. He moved from gently rubbing her arm, to pulling her into his arms. Waking up beside her husband every morning was a delight she would never get tired of.
"Lyds, you awake?"
"Yep, but I would prefer to stay like this for a while longer."
"That makes two of us. It's time for breakfast though. Remember, the kids have appointments with me today," he added, while he leaned down to kiss her.
"You're right! I almost forgot," she groaned into the pillows, which earned her a chuckle from his retreating figure.
She would be fine as long as she wasn't dragged into that awful dental chair, herself. How she managed to date and even marry a dentist—her absolute worst fear—was beyond her.
It was even more impressive, that throughout the span of their entire relationship, he never once brought anything about it up.
Nate probably thought she had her own provider and she did, for a while. She even went through the whole braces ordeal with retainers and whatnot, but stopped going not long after she met him.
That was around five years ago. And she would happily let things remain as they were, for as long as they could—preferably forever.
The only problem was her mouth had been hurting recently, and she sure as heck wasn't going to be the one to bring it up.
Her thoughts momentarily broke as she heard Nate waking up the boys. Surprisingly, both of her sons didn't mind going to the dentist. They actually seemed to look forward to it. And dare she say, even appear interested?
If they continued at this rate, they'd most likely end up in their father's footsteps, and she would find herself surrounded by three dent— Nope! She wasn't going to consider that terrible possibility now.
"What are you thinking so hard about?"
Nathan had entered their room again.
"Oh, nothing. Just weekend plans. It's Friday, after all."
"I believe the boys wanted to go over to your sister's house tomorrow, and speaking of which, I just woke them up. You can start getting ready, if you want."
"Sure."

Her youngest found her in the bathroom after breakfast was done.
"Mommaaaa!! Are you finished, yet? We're going to Daddy's office today!"
"Yep, let's go! Where's your brother?"
"He's already in the car! C'mon," he started leading Lydia down the stairs and out the front door.
The car pulled out of their driveway as soon as everyone got in. Their eight-year old son, Caleb, and their five-year old, Isaac, talked about what they were most excited about during the whole fifteen-minute drive. Nathan smiled endearingly at the both of them and so did Lydia. She however, was the only one who wasn't looking forward to their trip.
Caleb and Isaac immediately greeted Susan, the secretary, while they waited for Nathan to set up.
"Momma, you can stay out here in the waiting room. Isaac and I are big boys. We can go in by ourselves," Caleb eagerly suggested. Isaac nodded his head in affirmation.
"Alright, I'll be out here. I'll see you as soon as you're both done."
And with that, they both ran into the exam room. Lydia couldn't have been more relieved. She sat down for the hour-long appointment and tried to distract herself from the thoughts that reminded her of where she was.
