A case like no other - A Johnlock story

A place to stay - Part 1

It's past 2pm when Ella is woken up by two angered voices. 

Ella slowly heaved herself up so she could sit up on the couch ,she must have fallen asleep after John let her in ,after all it has been a tough morning she thought smiling to herself remembering what John and her did earlier that day . Shaking the thoughts from her head she began to look around the flat , it was warm and cozy but it lacked a lady's hand.

The whole room smelled of smoke ,tea and ginger cookies ?! Christmas decorations were still up, papers were thrown across the floor , books were stacked atop one another , tea cups lying on the coffee table and to her shock a real skull lying on top of the fireplace mantel with a Christmas bow ."It's nearly a month after Christmas and he still hasn't put away the Christmas decor"she thought to herself as she slowly stood up from the couch careful not to knock anything on her way .

The voices steadily grew louder as she crept along the living room to the closed doors of the kitchen careful not to be seen or heard , it seemed they were coming from inside .

"John ! Who is that ! I told you I hate new people in the flat!" an angered voice began arguing ,

"I know but she has to be here at least for a few nights until I find her a place to stay in" the other replied who she recognised as Johns "She won't be lo-" John began but was interrupted by the first man,

 "Ah I see another one of your girlfriends"

 "And what if it was it's none of your business anyways !" snapped John who was growing more and more frustrated

 "No,John she wont stay-" The fight was growing louder and louder and Ella decided she better interfere before it got handy . 

"Hello there" she piped cheerfully as she slid the doors apart and walked into the kitchen meeting the cold glare of the tall man and the warm small smile from John . "So what's the chat about" Ella asked, trying not to sound too guilty of eavesdropping on the conversation . 

The tall man gave her a stern calculating look and began "I don't think we need to update you on what we are talking about since you have spent the last five minutes listening to us at the door-"

The man was cut by John's angry voice "Sherlock!" 

Ella's jaw dropped a little. How did he know, she was sure she was far away from the door and didn't make any noise. Both men began arguing again and Ella decided she had enough.

 "Alright both of you , that's enough" she said with a raised voice causing both men to turn to her.

 "Right" said John calming down "Uhh sorry about that" he said shooting a murdering glance at Sherlock who meanwhile glared at Ella.

"Who are you" Sherlock snapped at her,

 "You don't know much about talking to women or to anyone in fact do you  ? "she replied, resulting in a choked laugh from John and a slightly startled face from Sherlock . 

Stiffing a laugh John began to speak  while Sherlock ignored both of them and began examining a can of tomato puree .

"Sherlock are you even listening" John asked anger filling his face once again

 'No' he answered plainly causing John to redden.

Ella was now getting bored and quite annoyed so she decided to take matters into her own hands "It's okay John , I know your boyfriend doesn't want me here"she said turning around and slowly making her way out of the room.

 " What!N..n.no we are not a couple!" John said hastily and Sherlock shot his eyes from John to Ella and back again "You're not his girlfriend ?" he asked and Ella smiled to herself as she turned back and stood beside John .

"No i am not , I mean it would be weird to date your own cousin wouldn't it" She said and the room filled with silence ,a mere sight of relief filled Sherlock's face. 

"Names Ella , Ella Hoppins-Watson, pleased to finally meet you " she said reaching her hand out  a smug smile on her face.
