-"Evelyn, may I ask... what day is it today?" I asked her pretty cocky with scrunched eyebrows looking up at her.
-"Today... today is Friday!" She responded with a big smile, not thinking anything more out of it. "Silly you, your calendar is right in front of you!" She said pointing at it with her index finger.
-"You're totally right, thank you." I said with a fake smile on my face as she was walking out of my office.
~I'm pretty disappointed that she forgot about my birthday... although I guess it's unusual for her to remember those important dates, I guess?~
A few more moments passed and I got ready to go out and eat lunch when I was grabbing my coat from the hallway and I felt a finger tapping on my shoulder.
-"Hey! Wanna grab some quick lunch together?" A deep masculine voice was heard.
I turned around to face Wonho who was patiently waiting for at answer as he was softly smiling at me.
-"Yeah, I'd love to! Where are we going to eat?" I quietly asked him while putting on my coat.
-"Let's eat some street food, I know a place, let me drive you there!" He told me as I followed after him down to his car that we got into and off to the road.
It didn't take too long until we finally arrived in front of a small caravan that was parked in front of a park.
Wonho made sure to park his car on the side or the road, and then got out of the car to open the door for me.
We made our way to the caravan where Wonho was quick to start ordering food as there weren't have any costumers in the moment.
Without even asking me what I wanted, I got my dish not too long after that. It looked delicious and smelled fantastic. It was shrimp and crab fried rice, that had some sort of orange and green tint to it due to all the spices that where mixed.
-"I'm sorry I didn't ask you what you wanted beforehand... but I really wanted you to try the dish that I wish I could try again for the first time because it was too good to be true." He said, almost reading my mind as he softly smiled.
How could I ever get upset at such a man like him? So of course I didn't comment anything about it and just proceeded to enjoy the food instead.
And when I tell you this man was NOT lying... that must've been the best fried rice that I have ever had in my whole life!
-"Wow, you were clearly not lying when you said that! And this is so good coming from a caravan, I mean... I've eaten fried rice at a bunch of 5 star Michelin restaurants from all around the world, but this!? This it top tier!" I finally let out as I was munching of my food with wide eyes, eyebrows raised focusing on my dish.
He giggled with that beautiful soft voice of his.
-"I knew you'd like it! And trust me, I was just as surprised as you are when I first found this place by accident... but I am very glad that you are the first person that I share this discovery with. In a weird way... it comforts me." He said blushing into his paper box of food, too shy to look straight into my eyes. Now that I think about it, Wonho is too shy to make eye contact with me a little too often. It's almost like he sees that as the most intimate thing on earth because his eyes don't wear contact lenses of the perfect eyes out there... they're showing their true colors... where they're not the best, but comfortable enough to feel vulnerable and open.
And I am happy he feels that way. I'm happy he doesn't have to hide his true self behind those contact lenses and new people that don't allow him to be his true self.
At least he finds comfort in someone... and that's all that matters for now.
We continued finishing our food and then got back into his car, and went back to the company's building.
He was somewhat more cheerful on our way back, and I was surprised to find out how goofy he was when he wasn't afraid to sing along to Will Smith's "Miami" in an aloof way to get me into the same track as him. But I only let out a chuckle and recorded him a little. I obviously didn't post these recordings anywhere as I only wanted to keep them as a memory, but he asked me to send a video to him which I later found on his Instagram story where he tagged me in it.
But of course I only became aware of that later that day, when I got bored working my last shift after lunch.
And so the shift was over, I texted Wonho to meet me at the entrance as I felt a finger tapping on me.
To my surprise, I turn around to find Evelyn and Wonho holding a cake into their hands that had "Happy birthday, lil lady" written in cursive with a dark blue shade on it.
I gasped to this whole situation, but quickly found myself laughing as most of my coworkers shouted surprise in that moment, making me jump.
We enjoyed the cake and Evelyn came up to me sliding a little box in my hand.
-"What is this fo-" I didn't get the chance to finish my sentence.
-"You didn't actually think I was going to forget your birthday, did you? Anyway, I love you the most, so here's a little gift for you!" She happily said after giving me a hug and going back to chit chatting with some other people.
I was really glad that she didn't forget it, and was even more glad to be standing there with that cherry pink box in my hand that had a beautiful small ribbon tied around it.
So I got ready to leave by saying goodbye to all my coworkers, and putting on my coat that was hanging in the hallway on my floor.
-"Are you ready to go?" The one and only, Wonho asked me looking up and down as I was fully equipped.
-"Yes sir!" I said smirking at him, leading the way down to his car where he followed.
We then got home at my place, and as soon as I opened the door I hear a quiet "wow" in a deep voice.
Wonho's eyes were traveling all over the place as he examined every inch in that room. He was wearing big wide eyes and looked first over my living room area, then onto the kitchen, and then back at me.
-"This is how you live!?" He asked still in a bunch of shock almost covering his jaw that had dropped, with his right hand.
-"... uh... yes? Is it that surprising?!" I responded with another question a little pissed at the fact that it was so unbelievable.
-"Ah- No- I mean-" he was super startled because he annoyed me, and he clearly understood that. Again. As if he had a magic little window into what is going on inside my brain.
-"I just mean that, I really like it! It's definitely my style, for sure!" He said looking out to the view over the city.
-"Does that mean you wouldn't mind living here with me, then?" I teasingly asked him with slightly squinted eyes, scrunching eyebrows and an open mouth showing off my lower teeth.
-"Oh- Well- Yes- NO- SORRY I MEAN-" he quickly got flustered again because of his ability of being indecisive when answering that question.
-"What I meant is that, it's come as a surprise that you can afford such a place like this. I mean it's got a great view, very spacious, and is located in a very busy street in New York City. Usually those places are pricy, even I as a successful solo artist would have to save up to buy a place like this!" He explained while making a lot of hand gestures, trying to make me understand.
-"I see... well, let's just say the job that you see me at is not my only cash resource. Either way, I'll go get ready, you can wait here. Make yourself comfortable!" I smiled at him while heading into my bedroom.
-"Wait... get ready for what? ROSA, GET READY FOR WHAT!?" He shouted after me, repeating the same question.
But I was simply too unbothered to answer meaning I didn't even look back at him... I was just... unstoppable...
