"Wake up Elaine, breakfast is ready." I here Dal say to me as he moves the hair out of my face. I blink a few times to try and adjust to the light. I  sit up in my bed, rubbing my eyes.

"How are ya feeling?" I look around the room, still adjusting to the light then looking up at Dally. "Better, thank you Dallas." He rolls his eyes and helps me get up from bed.

We walk downstairs together, I walk to the kitchen table sitting next to Soda. "Hey Laney, ya feeling any better?" Steve asks as he walks into the kitchen. "Much better" I smile up at Steve.

Darry then sets a plate of eggs in front of me. I thank him and start eating them. I'm so hungry I haven't eaten in hours. Soda ruffles my hair and kisses my cheek.

"Alright, I gotta head to work." He says as he gets up from the spot next to me, buttoning his DX shirt.

"Elaine, you're  gonna have to stay home today. No going out." Darry states looking at me sternly. I look at him furrowing my brows. "I'm feeling better though." I push my eggs around on my plate. "You could still get others sick." I'm confused. He lets me hang with the gang but not go out to do other stuff? Whatever. I frown to myself getting up from the kitchen table.

"Okay, whatever." I roll my eyes yet again. I do that a lot. "Listen to Dar, Laney." Soda says. I look to Soda sending him a glare. "Okay" I walk away to the living room.

I sit on the couch, picking up my book as I start reading it. Dally comes in and sits next to me, patting my leg.

"I'm staying with you today." I look up from my book raising a brow at him. "What about Pony? Can't he stay with me?" I question. I don't know why I asked that. I'm older than Pony and Darry barely trusts him to stay home alone, let alone watch me. I'm usually the one watching him.

"No, he's going out with Johnny and Two-Bit today." He says putting his arm on the couch. I go back to reading, flipping the page. "So.. I'm stuck with you all day?" I ask

"Yup, get used to it doll." He lights a cigar and blows a puff of smoke into my face. I glare at him smacking his arm hard. He smirks in return. "You know I don't like that Dal." I warn

He's so annoying. Darry walks in buttoning his shirt. "Alright, Soda, Steve and I are off to work. Pony is going out with Johnny and Two today. Dal take good care of her, alright." Darry warns. Dal nods.

"Darry I'm 17, I can stay home by myself." He looks at me with that face again. That face always kind of scared me a bit. I don't exactly know how describe it, I just call it the Scary Darry.

"No arguing Laney, it's not safe by yourself here and I need someone taking care of you." I make a angry face. "Alright. Love you." Darry kisses my forehead, walking out the door and heading to work.

"What do you wanna do today doll?" I glance at him for a split second. "Don't we have to stay home? Besides, don't you have better things to do than hanging out with me?" I question. He takes a puff of his cigar. "Yeah I do have better things to do." He smirks and chuckles. I glare at him. "Darry doesn't have to know we went out." He winks at me. I close my book.

"Okay, it's your fault if I get in trouble with Darry or Soda though." I say getting up and walking to my room, Dally following close behind me. I get to my room and stop, looking over to Dally.

"I'm getting dressed, stay out here. He looks at me leaning on the opposite door frame. "Okay." He puts both hands up as if he's defending himself. I shut the door behind me.

I walk to my closet and pick out some black jeans slipping those on. I then pick out one of Pony's hoodies putting that over myself and putting on a flannel over it. I slip on some converse then putting on some mascara. I take a look at my crazy, brown, wavy hair and frown. I never really liked my appearance, my hair was mid length and very wavy, I had blue eyes that sparkled just like Soda. I looked away from my mirror walking to the door and opening it.

Dally looked up from his cigarette as he looked me up and down, smirking. I slapped his chest walking past him. We both walked out of the house making sure it was locked.

"Wanna go to Dairy Queen?" I look at the sky and start walking. "Sure" I say smiling to him. We continue laughing and talking together as we walk to the nearest Dairy Queen.

We arrive at Dairy Queen getting our ice cream and walk out of the door. "I know a great place where we can eat this!" I say turning to Dally and holding up my ice cream.

He chuckles, nodding to me. He grabs my hand, as we walk together. He just grabbed my hand? Why? I never understood Dallas Winston and never will. he will always be a mystery to me.

I lead him into the woods, swinging our hands as we walk. "Where are we going? You leading me to death or something?" I laugh, looking over at him. "No, you weirdo!" we arrive at these old train tracks, somewhere I go to when I need to be alone.

We walk over the train tracks, reaching a river with a bridge. We both sit down in silence, eating our delicious ice cream.

"Dal." I say breaking the silence. He hums in response. "Have you ever watched a sunset?" I ask. He looks over at me chuckling. "No, I think they're pointless. What's the big deal about them?" I make an angry face towards him, licking my ice cream. "They're gorgeous. We should watch one today." He nods in response. "Anything for you Laine." he says cheesily. I laugh and shake my head.

Who knew Dallas Winston could actually be fun to be around.
