Chapter 6

Gab,riding his bike, was making his way back to Mcdonalds. He was thinking of ways of how his meeting with Anna will end.

"No turning back now." Gab whispered to himself as he placed a lock for his bike.

He was near the entrance when he caught a glimpse of Anna. One word formed in his mind. Beautiful.

Once inside, he fixed his collar and made his way to the table where Anna sat.

"Uh... Hi... Flowers for you." said Gab as he handed Anna the flowers.

"Thanks" she replied

"Sorry I'm late... I had to pick up the flowers."

"Oh it's okay... So I heard you're leaving."

"Yeah"

"So why did you invite me here?"

"I got to tell you something."

A moment of silence then...

"I love you, Anna." Gab managed to say.

"Really?"

Without hesitation he answered "Yes."

Anna paused for a moment then said "Why don't we go somewhere else?"

"Sure"

And so they both made their way out and went to the bookstore right beside Mcdonalds. They walked in silence.

Anna led Gab to the back of the bookstore where there were no people. Then they sat down on the floor covered with a carpet.

Anna broke the silence between them.

"Remember when we were kids and we used to hang out a lot?"

"Yeah."

Those were one of the best parts of my life. Those were the times when I didn't care about the world... and I enjoyed it cause I was with you... The truth is... I'm also in love with you... but you never made a move or anything."

Gab couldn't believe his ears. Anna also loves him! But he also felt mad at himself for being a coward and not telling her what he felt a long time ago.

All those wasted time. And now, I'm leaving. Gab thought

"I'm sorry, Anna... I'm such a coward"

"I'm also sorry cause I have a boyfriend now."

"You do?"

"Yes... Jace. But we keep it a secret."

Jace was the MVP of the highschool basketball team.

"When will you return?" Anna asked.

"Probably after college." replied Gab

"Then promise me this... Once you get back... Try and win me back."

"I will... I promise."

Once the words escaped Gab's mouth, Anna pulled him closer and pressed her lips into Gab's. This was Gab's first kiss.

After all this, Anna said she had to go. So Gab escorted her outside. Gab waited with Anna for a taxi until one came.

Before she rode, she thanked Gab and said "Don't ever forget the promise."

"I won't."
