"it was crazy, i don't know what it was about her but something made me feel very nervous while talking to her." i say to my group of friends who were eagerly listening to learn about eden.

i had been texting back and forth with her for most of the time i was supposed to be hanging out with the group and eventually hayden got so sick of it that he grabbed my phone to see "what in the world could be more important than us".

"and you've never seen her before that day?" emily asks.

"never," i reply.

"how is that possible? she lives right around the corner from you!" hayden exclaims.

"i don't know, maybe she's new." i suggest, "or maybe she's homeschooled."

"that might be it, because wouldn't one of us had to have seen her at school?" lauren asks.

"true," hayden says.

"hey, i have a good idea! why don't you invite her over now?" emily suggests.

"why?" i ask.

"don't worry i won't try to steal her from you, man" hayden jokes.

"trust me, i wasn't worried about that." i laugh.

"no but i'm serious! i'd love to get to know her she seems like she could actually be a cool person." emily says.

"yeah, me too!" lauren chimes in.

"fine, fine, i'll text her." i sigh.

a few minutes later we heard a knock at the door and i stood up to answer the door.

"hey," i say as i open the door.

"hi," eden smiles.

"come on bring her in!" lauren yells from the living room.

"well come on in, then." i laugh.

i wait for her to slip off her shoes and then lead her to the living room where the rest of the group is.

"hi everyone, i'm eden." she says as we sit down.

"oh we know." hayden chuckles.

"don't mind him, i'm emily." emily says politely.

the rest of the group then introduced themselves and before i knew it the girls were dragging eden away to another room.
