After a few days of overworking, my body started feeling like a dead weight. Even Timaeus keeps looking at me, full of concern in his eyes. But I can't just leave my research even when I'm at a dead-end. Who knows when an epiphany would happen.
"No, Sir." Timaeus scolded me by snatching the book I took from the shelf. "You need to rest for a bit. I'll make sure everything is as you left them." Sighing, I took his advice. Timaeus can be very persistent when it comes to alchemy and one's health.
With that, I returned to Mondstadt to unwind as my assistant advised. But can I truly rest? Even if they tell me to, I grow restless if I don't do anything. As I walk the halls of the quiet headquarters, I see Sucrose walking out of the lab. We approach each other, and she greeted me, probably a little softer than usual.
"How is your research?" she asked, but there was something odd about her. It wasn't the tiredness in her voice, no. It was something else, her scent. It was sweet and calming, but also something I cannot understand. I engaged in a conversation with Sucrose hoping to keep my mind busy and help with her research if she needs it. "Do you need help with anything?"
Sucrose's ears started to flap in excitement. Is that why Sucrose went out? She replies by asking if I had any recipes for candy making. So I had her follow me into my study to look for one. But as she waited, the scent on her seems to grow slightly stronger than earlier. I busied myself in finding the book. When I did, I flipped the pages to find the recipes Sucrose needed.
"I'm assuming you want to make candies out of the sweet flowers you cultivated?" Sucrose weakly nodded and smiled towards me. "Then allow me to help. I have nothing better to do anyway."
Once we entered the laboratory, the unusual scent wafted out like a thick mist. It was like a spell cast upon me. The fragrance is calming, that is true. But it was also making me feeling something I've never experienced before. The feeling of wanting to embrace the one in front of me. Sucrose. Her ocean green hair looked lustrous all of a sudden. Her figure, would she fit in my arms if I embrace her? My feet started moving on their own, approaching the target of this mysterious feeling. When I was only a few inches away from her, I trapped her with my arms. My hands rested on the table in front of us.
She squeaked my name in surprise when she turned around to face me. Her amber eyes glimmered as they reflect my form, her cheeks flushed red from embarrassment. I found it attractive in a way. Sucrose tries to push me, but I held her by the wrists. Hoping she would feeling that my chest was pounding this very moment. When I caressed her cheek, it was warm and smooth against my gloved hand as they glided towards her ear. They were adorable like a cat's. I leaned in towards Sucrose. While she tried to struggle, tried to free herself from my grasp. In her attempt to escape, she bumps the table. The tray of flowers fell along with a pitcher of water next to it.
When I heard the splashing of water, the scent that engulfed my entire being dissipate. I immediately released Sucrose's wrists in my surprise. My senses returned, so I stepped away from the frightened girl.
"My apologies, Sucrose," I said sincerely, ashamed of what I have and could have done. "I don't know what came over me. Please excuse me."
I quickly escaped the room, ran up the stairs, towards my chamber. I collected my thoughts, analyzing what had happened. That scent had a bit of lavender. It would be the one giving the calming effect, but what about the other one? I will be sure to ask Sucrose about this matter when everything has died down.
