It was the next day and I was sat in the Slytherin common room reading on my own, well that's what I thought. Until I noticed another girl reading too. I was questioning whether or not I should go up to her, however my thoughts were interrupted by the sound of elephant stomps coming through the corridor. Oh no, not elephant stomps, Slytherin boys.
"Hey Y/N, don't go collapsing again" one of the boys sniggered.
They all laughed at me, there was at least 12 of them and they started to come close. In my face. They snatched the book I was reading.
"I know you don't want to be in Slytherin so why don't you just leave" another boy uttered "we don't want you here"
I started to get nervous, I didn't know what they were going to do.
"You're not worthy of being a Slytherin anyway" he yelled.
"Then why did the sorting hat put me here then" I replied. I stood up to leave but one of the boys pushed me back down to my seat.
"Don't talk back" they said getting more and more aggressive. One of them grabbed me by the shirt and chucked me on the ground. I looked up to the other girl for help, but she shut her book and walked out.
They started to surround me. Hollering awful words to me. I wanted to leave. I was ready to leave all of this wizardry behind. I just didn't want to be there anymore.
I looked up and I saw Blaise.
"What the hell do you think you a guys are doing" he shouted.
"It's Y/N, the one who spoke about Slytherin like it was dirt" the boy spat back. "We're here to teach her a lesson"
I shut my eyes in fear, and out of nowhere I heard a loud thud hit the ground. I opened my eyes quickly and to my surprise the boy was on the floor with a bleeding lip. A smile crawled on my face. Blaise saved me. I jumped up to thank him. But I saw Draco, Draco Malfoy rubbing his hurt, bruised knuckles
We grabbed eye contact.
And he walked away.
"Are you okay?" Blaise asked, snapping me out of my gaze.
"Yes, yes, I'm fine" I reassured.
All the other boys scattered.
"Thank you" I whispered
Blaise grabbed my shoulders and pulled me into his chest.
"I'm just glad you're okay" he spoke sadly. "I wouldn't want my date to the Yule ball to have any cuts and bruises"
I looked up from his chest into his big chestnut brown eyes.
"Date? Yule ball?" I uttered.
"Do you want to be my date to the Yule ball?" He asked with a cheeky smile on his perfectly tanned face.
"Yes"
I hesitated. Not because I don't want to go but, I can't explain it. It's too complicated.
"I can't wait" he said while jumping out of the common room.
The girl reading before walked back in.
"Hiya" she murmured.
"Hey" I replied.
"I'm sorry I walked out before, I got scared. I'm sorry"
"No need to apologise. I understand" I smiled.
"I went and got Blaise and Draco to help you" she uttered.
"Thank you"
She sat down next to me.
"I see you don't have a lot of friends around here" she said quietly.
"No I don't" I replied.
"I'll be your friend. My names Cassandra. Cassandra Adair. What's your name?" She asked.
"I'm Y/N Reine" I answered.
"So I heard you're going to the Yule ball with Blaise! How exciting" she cheered.
"Yes" I chuckled. "I'm very excited I just don't know what to wear"
"I'm sure Blaise will get a dress for you" "the balls tomorrow so go get some beauty sleep!"
I laughed and rushed off. I was truly ecstatic for the ball. With Blaise! He is so handsome. The night will be perfect. But it can't be too perfect.
-
It was just 4 hours before the ball began. I just finished school for the day and I sprinted to my room. And there it was. My dress for the Yule Ball. Cassandra was right, Blaise did get me a dress for today. I was so unbelievably happy, my heart felt so warm and my lungs were grasping the air for breath. The dress looked as if it was crafted for royalty. The perfect Cinderella gown. It was a warm green, all the merry greens of new spring foliage illuminated by sunny rays was put into this gorgeous vintage ball gown. The lace traced down across the chest down the arms and the silky bottom hits the floor so elegantly, like a hundred fairy's are carrying it.
I had to put this dress on. It was,
Perfect.
I heard a knock on the door.
"It's open" I yelled gently, still gazing at myself in the full body mirror.
The voice behind the door opened it slightly and peeked their head around.
"Y/N, Blaise told me to tell you to meet him at the ball now, not in the common room"
I saw in the mirror, it was Draco. He had his cute head half way through the door. Probably to make sure he didn't see me getting change, I am going on a date with his best friend after all.
"Okay thank you for telling me" I said back to him.
I thought he'd just shut the door and that would be it. But I heard what he said before he slammed it, and I saw his face in the mirror while he said it.
"You look lovely" with an embarrassed look on his face right after, but I saw his eyes. Eyes are the gateway to someone's soul. And his was a kind one.
I bet he thought I didn't hear.
But I did.
