San's POV
Rhythmical beeping filled the room, the room my sister has been laying in for two days. It was a normal hospital room, like any other. The cream tile on the floor was the most colorful thing in the room. The walls a simple white, same as the ceiling.
A curtain separated Seul's part of the room from the other lady laying here. The beds were white clad and feather filled. To the left of Seul's bed sat a small simple nightstand. It was empty and hadn't been touched by anyone more that the nurses and doctors.
Across from the bed a small tv sat on a wall shelf. A show was playing on the second lowest volume, to not disturb Seul's roommate. I aimlessly clicked through channels trying to find something interesting to watch, but to no avail.
Under the tv sat a simple, very fake looking plant and a chair sat in the corner. Another chair had been pulled up to the bed for me to sit in.
I turned the tv off and dropped the remote on the bed beside Seul, stretching my arms and back as I look over her and all the equipment hooked up to her.
She was paler than usual and a sheen of sweat covered her skin. He arms lay on her stomach. The blanket having been pulled off of her. She was dressed in a simple light blue hospital gown. Her long black hair lay under her, tangled terribly.
And IV sat to her right, I was on the left, the cord ending in a needle which was pushed into her wrist and taped into place. A sort of machine sat above the bed to track brain activity and her vitals, body temperature, blood pressure, bpm, and her breathing rate.
The doctors said that she had been put into a sort of sleeping state. Not a coma, more like being knocked out. Other than that and a fever she was perfectly fine. We just had to wait for her to wake up and the doctors said it shouldn't be too long.
It was 5:30 PM now, the sun already starting to sink below the skyline, casting its rays through the window one last time before the day ended. A yawn escaped my mouth and, finding nothing better to do, I went to sleep wanting to escape the depressed air of the hospital.
Darkness spread before my open eyes. A smell over took my senses, not a bad smell but definitely not a good one either. It almost smelled of smoke and burnt meat, but something was off about it.
I stuck my hands out to try and feel around. The walls of this. . . Room? Felt cold to the touch and were slick with some substance. I pulled my hand away from the wall and back to my face trying to strain my eyes and see what the slimy liquid was.
The pitch blackness kept me from being able to see anything so a gave up and put my arms back out, slowly moving along, using what I felt with my hands to guide me.
Progress was slow but as I shuffled forward a small light flickered to life. A fire. The smell of burnt meat got stronger the closer I got to the fire.
This certainty wasn't a room, it seemed more like a cave. The cold walls were most likely stone and the slime. . . Hopefully just algae that's had grown from water trailing down its walls for years.
I continued shuffling down the cave, slowly advancing toward the light. My hands always on the wall to keep me on track. I heard dripping nearby, sounds like water falling from the roof of the cave into a puddle, maybe even a small pond. It sounded off to my right, not on track towards the light.
My right hand soon touched air instead of a wall and I stumble sideways from the loss of it. I catch myself before I fall and feel my way back to the wall my left hand was touching. The dripping of water is directly to my right now. And the fire is burning brighter than ever.
The dripping is constant but suddenly stops. A louder splash sprays water from the pond onto my legs. I hurry forward a bit before stopping and looking back.
A humanoid shape stumbles from the water and lumps toward me. I spin back around and stumble forward. The lumpy and slippery floor making it hard to get a good grip as I try and hurry towards the fire.
The narrow hallway opens up into a round chamber where the fire sits. A lip goes unnoticed by me in my rush to get as far away from the stumbling shape. I fall, unable to catch myself this time, so I twist on my back to reduce damage. I hit the ground and the air is knocked out of me. I close my eyes trying to relax and get my breathing back to normal. But my eyes snap open soon after.
"San?" I look up and see Seul. Seul. . . Was chasing me. . ?
"Seul? Why are you here." I examine her she looks the same as she always has. She's wearing a white tank top and simple black leggings. The shirt is torn and bloody. The underside of her arms are torn and bleeding. Infected. The skin nonexistent, just flesh and bone. "Seul! Your arms" I scream out without thinking.
"That doesn't matter." She breaths out as she stumbles to the ground beside me. The fire in the middle of the room shifts to a deep blazing blue as Seul looks me in the eyes. She sits up slowly and the wounds on her arms quickly seal up. Leaving not even scars behind. "See?" Her voice is deeper and her eyes shift colors. No longer the dark brown, something more like an amber color. She breaths deeply before getting up. "You need to leave. Wake up." Her voice dropping octaves lower as the room goes cold. The fire have been put out.
I can't see again, "Seul are you there!?" I question into the darkness. Something wet brushes again my arm "If you want to call me Seul, then sure. I'm here." A deep voice whispers into my ear. An exhale passes before I feel something wrapping around me wrist, pulling be up to stand.
"You should really stand before me. Look me in the eyes." I search in the darkness infront of me to try and find this. . . humans eyes "I-" "Foolish you can't even see in the dark can you." The fire in the middle of the room blazes up, higher and hotter than before.
"How about now? Look at me" I look to my side, a dark shadow looms at my side. Not distinguishable and not touching the ground. A small cloud of dark that shifts shapes. A deep red is focused near the simple. The creature smells of rot and decay. Death and disease. Terror and depression hangs off the creature and honor and superiority fills the air.
The red focuses into two menacing slots and stares me down. "Your sister was more worthy. . . But I need all that I can get. Leave now." It speaks, it's deep reverberating voice seems to echo inside me. Leaving goosebumps to spread across my skin.
Then it's black again.
My eyes fly open, letting a loud gasp out as I make eye contact with Seul, who lays on the bed now awake.
I feel as though this chapter can seem kinda confusing, so I'll explain a few things. The black cloud is the same creature that Seul met in her dream. And Seul didn't meet San in her dream but San did because this creature wanted to get his attention. I hope that makes sense! And I hope you enjoyed ^.^
