Today is going to be your first day at Big Hit Entertainment.
You've landed a job as a personal stylist to work with the new girl group they are forming. It's still in the early stages and the final line up has not yet been agreed. You have been brought in to be part of the team from the outset.
Your name is L/n Y/n, you have just turned 22 years old and qualified with highest honours last year at the most prestigious college in Korea.
Until now you have been an intern at a fashion house gaining experience in the industry, just waiting for such an opportunity as this to come up.
And the timing was perfect. You had served your first six months and either re-signed for another year or moved on; and quite frankly you did not want to stay. You report to the office bright and early, wanting to make a good impression on your new employers. You have your long, brown, highlighted hair in a professional looking bun, not too tight, but not messy either and you're wearing an elegant floral monochrome design dress with black jacket and heels completing your simple outfit. Very light makeup, considering your profession, you don't actually like to wear much at all.
You didn't have to go through an interview as you had been chosen from the Portfolio submissions and references provided by your college; Headhunted, to a degree. But you're still eager to impress them.
Stepping inside the building you take a big steadying breath before approaching the reception desk situated at the far end of the cathedral-like entrance lobby. The clicking of your stiletto heels announcing your arrival to the clerk sitting behind the imposing structure. She looks up and makes eye contact, smiling genuinely, as she greets you warmly. While sitting on one of the slightly worn black leather sofas in the reception area, waiting for the Head of Wardrobe to arrive, you nervously scan your surroundings.
It looks a bit sparse, with empty displays and obvious marks on the wall where previously had hung works of art or promotional paraphernalia, but you recall that the company is moving to a new building shortly and obviously things are being packed up and operations being wound down in this building; ready for the move.
Which is actually great news for you, as the new building is actually closer to your home than the present one, your journey to work will be halved. In your eyeline you see an attractive, well-dressed, slightly older lady approach you. As she greets you warmly, you note her perfect hair and makeup.
"Annyeonghaseyo Y/N, I am Lee Mi-Seon, but you may call me Mimi; and there is no need to look so frightened" she smiles brightly.
You stand quickly and with a courteous bow to the older woman, you answer her, "Annyeonghaseyo Mimi Eonnie," with a little smile.
"Follow me and I will show you the studios and dressing rooms" she says as she gestures the way with a petite hand showing perfectly manicured nails. She continues speaking as you walk along the corridor together towards your destination.
"Y/n we were very impressed with your portfolio and we are very happy that you decided to accept our offer." You blush a little. "We are still working with the trainees and the final line up for the group has not been completed, but we would like you to work with all the girls at this time; eventually you will be assigned to one or possibly two of them as a personal stylist, once a connection has been established. We want for the artists to trust implicitly in their stylist; although, I think they might just fight over you after seeing your work" she slightly giggles.
You smile "Thank you, I'm flattered" responding honestly.
"I also understand from your information, that you are midway through a course at night school in stage makeup artistry. This will be very beneficial to the company when completed. It will really make you the full package" she genuinely continues.
"It's something that has always fascinated me and I believe it gives me a greater understanding of theme requirements to a degree" you reply enthusiastically.
"Do not underestimate yourself my dear, you are extremely talented and it seems, naturally so, as you have not yet finished the course but your portfolio suggests differently"
You're blushing profusely at her direct compliments.Once you arrive at the studio, a hub of activity, your mouth drops and eyes widen at the sight in front of you. There are 10-12 beautiful girls in there, practicing hard, trying to earn their place on the team.
You watch them for a while as they are in the middle of a routine with the choreographer, a little jealous if you're honest, dancing and singing definitely do not come to you naturally.
Once they stop to catch their breath, Mimi calls them over and introduces you and, as she suspected, they are all gushing over you, it's a little overwhelming frankly, but you find it quite amusing.
Mimi explains to you that there is no rush to make any choices at this stage, you will work with each of the girls over the coming weeks and establish a rapport with them and the decision will hopefully come organically as the girls are cut down to the final line up.
You are to be part of a four person team initially, with some existing staff and some new who will join the company over the coming weeks as final decisions are made on the line up for the group.
So you now set about chatting with the girls, getting to know them without interrupting their current routine too much, but you need to get a feel for each personality to offer wardrobe and makeup advice when the time is right. This is just as important as deciding the roles within the group for each girl.
