~Chapter 5~ Headaches

"Ughhh!   Ahhhhh!"  Wynter tried to suppress her cries of pain, but she couldn't.  She had no other outlet for the pain to go through.

"Honey, what is it, what's wrong?"  Wynter could hear her mother's frantic questions, but could not answer them.  Nor could she open her eyes.  All she saw, all she felt was inexplicable pain.  It was bone chilling and heart stopping.

"We have to take her to the hospital."  Wynter's father finally spoke.

Nichole looked at her husband with a pained expression, wanting him to tell her that everything was going to be fine, but she knew her husband would never lie to her, or tell her something that he wasn't sure to be true.

"I'll call the ambulance."

"No, that may take more trouble than we need.  I'll carry her to the car, we can come back for clothes later."  Nichole nodded.

"I'll drive."  Nichole sprinted from the room and ran down towards the car.

"Honey, I'm not sure if you can hear me, but we're going to take you to the hospital.  We're going to get you help."  Carefully, Danny picked his daughter up bridal style.

"It hurts."  He heard her whisper.  It pained Danny to hear that Wynter was holding back so much pain.

"I know Honey."

Danny took his daughter down to the car and they drove off to the hospital.

Wynter wondered, yet again, why they had brought her to the hospital.  It's not like it really mattered.  The pain was just as bad here as it was at her house.  Nothing the doctor's did helped, she was still in incredible pain, she was just as uncomfortable, and she still could not sleep.  It was miserable staying in that bed, listening to the doctors try and ponder what was wrong with her, but not having an answer.

She could hear clearly what everyone was saying, she knew what they were talking about, but she, regrettably, could not respond.  She was hurting too much.

The tests were the worst part about being in the hospital.  They would tell Wynter to give them a sign if the needle hurt or if touching her was causing more pain, but Wynter could not find it in her to respond.   Instead, she just went with whatever they wanted to do.

"It's not looking good."  She could clearly hear the doctor talking to her parents outside in the hallway and briefly entertained the thought that the doctor knew she could hear him.  But then why would he want her to hear that he was passing her off as a lost case?  Wynter was frustrated and tired.

She squeezed her eyes shut tighter, which caused even more pain, and tried to fall asleep once again, the sleeping medication the nurse had given her did nothing to aid in this feat.

The underground town never ceased to amaze Chry.  So far he had come across a thrift store, furniture store, the blood bank Lee had spoken of, and even a medical center.  What the medical center was for Chry couldn't imagine considering how fast his kind healed on their own.

The streets he walked down, though dark, were still visibly comfortable because of his heightened senses.  Since there were no cars in the underground town, there was no need for sidewalks, all the citizens he passed were perfectly comfortable walking on the rocky streets.

Chry wondered if there was any other way in and out of the city besides in the crowded bar.  He knew that if ever he wanted to venture outside during the day again, it would be very difficult because of the fact that the bar was always so crowded.  Someone would see him leave the tunnel when it was daytime in the above world.  They would begin to ask questions until they exposed his secret and then, they would want to know how it was possible, which would be a problem considering that Chry didn't even know how it was possible.  It simply was what it was.
