Meera was running through dim-lighted corridors with her watery eyes and red nose. Meera took a turn and bumped into a tall frame. It was Abhijay.

'Sorry! Sorry! Sorry!' He apologised.

'Bhabhi lagi toh nahi aapko?' Abhimanyu said from behind.

'Nahi Nahi.....mai theek hoon' she gave them both a reassuring smile.

'Tum dono yahan se kaise aa rahe ho?' she asked them as their rooms were not in this direction.

'Bas vo aise hi......college ki ladkiyon ke katal ki taiyaariyan kar rahe the!' Abhijay sid with a smirk. 'Kya?!' Meera asked with a frown.

'Bhabhi gym se aa rahe hain!' Abhimanyu said with a chuckle. 'Oh! Accha!' she said while laughing. Abhimanyu and Abhijay also smiled at her but Abhimanyu's smile suddenly dropped.

'Bhabhi? Aap ro rahe the kya?' he asked her with seriousness. Abhijay also noticed her watery eyes and red nose.

'Umm.....vo cold ho gaya hai mujhe' she lied to them with a sad smile.

'Kissine aapko kuch bola hai?!' Abhijay asked her impulsively.

'Zaroor Mami ne bola hoga!' Abhimanyu muttered while gritting his and walking away to spit few words on Mami's face. Meera held his hand and said 'Abhimanyu, Mami ne kuch nahi kaha!'

Abhimanyu again stood with Abhijay and both the brothers studied her with arched eyebrows. Meera gave them her most convincing smile and said 'Mujhe sirf cold hua hai.....aur kuch nahi 😊'

'Pakka Bhabhi?' they both asked her in union. Meera truly smiled at their care and said while cupping their face 'Tum logon ke hote hue mujhe koi kuch bol sakta hai kya?!😘' They both looked convinced and smiled at her.

'Accha chalo ab........so jao jaake.....itni derr ho gayi ho hai!' she told them and they both went away after giving her a smile.

Meera turned and her smile immediately dropped. She ran to her room before she meets anyone else they find out what happened between them.

Meera was lying on her bed and looking out at the moony sky. The sliding glass doors of the balcony were open, making way for the wind which made the thin white curtains dance.

The only light which illuminated the room was moonlight, making dark shadows at some corners. The night was devoid of any happiness..............just like her life.

Tears constantly soaked her pillow. The words which he said weren't supposed to hurt her but they did........badly.

She had expected this from him. She herself hasn't agreed to this marriage for falling in love with him. But then why his words hurt so much?

Why did he do this to her? He could have lied to her.

A sob escaped her mouth as she realized how hard her life has become. Her life was so full of love. But now.........it has just become a formality.

Yes, she couldn't blame him for all this. What can she expect from another person when the people who gave birth to her, all their life, took her as a responsibility?

But she cannot forgive him either. He has caused a deep wound in her heart.

The headache due to crying increased more and then she dozed off.

Meera's slowly opened her eyes. Her head ached a lot. She checked the time in her phone, it was 2 in the morning. She turned and found the side beside her still empty, without any wrinkle on the sheet. Meera sat up.

It was 2 and he hasn't returned yet? Where is he?

At that moment Meera heard the opening of the door and she quickly lied back, pretending to sleep. She didn't want him to have any misunderstanding that she was awake for him.

She heard footsteps and then opening of the bathroom door. Then came the sound of water from washbasin. After longtime the water stopped and moments after that the door of the bathroom also closed.

Meera kept her eyes closed. But her breath was getting heavier as she heard footsteps towards her. Meera's heart started beating fast as she felt power radiating right beside her, indicating his presence near her.

For sometime he stood their and Meera could feel his intense gaze on her.

Meera's heart almost broke her rib cage when she felt him caressing her tear stained cheek with his hand. He a sigh and then removed his hand.

He walked till his side of the bed and then Meera felt the bed dip as he climbed it.

As the voice of silence echoed in their room, his furious breaths was all Meera could hear. He was breathing oddly as if he just came after a hard workout. But Meera remembered that he went for workout before having dinner.

After sometime Meera could hear his peaceful breaths and she could tell that he is fast asleep.

Meera slowly turned to face him, not making much movement. Her eyes met with his peacefully sleeping frame illuminated by the moonlight. His chest rising and falling as he breathed.

Meera immediately felt weak about the decision of not forgiving him.

Her eyes fell on his hands on his stomach and a frown appeared on her face as his knuckles had fresh pink scars, only visible when looked at closely. Meera's eyes widened more as she saw a small stain of dried blood on the side of his wrist.

She looked at his face. Did someone hurt him? Or did he hurt someone?

Her worried eyes didn't lose him. She tenderly lifted his hand and held it close to her heart.

Why is she so hurt with his words? Why her heart feels like she won't be able to stay upset with him for long? Why is her eyes watering while looking at his knuckles? All these questions were ringing in her mind.

She remembered the feel of his touch on her skin.

She closed her eyes and slept like that...........holding his wounded hand close to her wounded heart🥺.
