Why am I even here?

Taehyung thought as he approached the estate belonging to a certain someone who just wouldn't escape his mind. After much long thought the previous night, Taehyung ultimately decided that he should make it up to Jungkook. You know, for barging in unannounced and for being a—essentially, a grade A asshole. The image of Jungkook's face, only inches from his, seething in anger, never left Taehyung's eyelids. Whenever the boy tried to squeeze his eyes shut, that was all he could see. Hell, Taehyung probably even dreamed about the events that happened in Jungkook's home. The way Jungkook clenched his jaw as he spat out a crude and sultry leave would forever ring in his ears, following him like a shadow.

And that was what brought him here, shuffling nervously up the pathway that split Jungkook's front yard in half; holding tightly in his hands a boquet of Queen Anne's Laces. Honestly, Taehyung didn't know what to get for Jungkook as a peace offering, because it felt as though his body was programmed to bring him back here, even if it was against his will. In the end, Taehyung recalled a time when Jungkook was livestreaming. He distinctly remembered that Jungkook was talking about his floral garden, and his love for flowers. Looking back, Taehyung was reminded of a specific thing Jungkook said. Something about how it took him months to perfect his floral haven, something about all the flowers he already had—and about how he was going to add one more flower to his collection: Queen Anne's Laces. This memory, as though locked away in his mind, reminded him of the flower Jungkook always wanted to keep in his garden—but never got the chance to before his untimely death.

So then Taehyung tapped his foot anxiously on the ground before the front door, debating whether or not to just barge in or knock. Taehyung chose the latter, and rapped gently againt the hard surface that was Jungkook's front door. Fearing that the ghost wouldn't hear him, Taehyung raised his hand to knock again, before the door swung open with a powerful, supernatural essence. Knowing right away it was Jungkook's doing, he stepped inside. Almost immediately as it had opened, it slammed shut, shooting a cold gust of air behind Taehyung. The boy stepped forward and looked around for any signs of the ghost, still clutching onto the boquet.

Stepping forward again, Taehyung slowly and gently made his way down the hallway, taking care with each and every step as though the marble floor might crack under his feet. Only making it around halfway through the main hallway, did Taehyung hear a whisper in his ear.

"Are those for me?"

Taehyung jumped in surprise, spining around so fast as though his body was challenging the skills of Michael Jackson's spirit himself.

Seeing it was only just Jungkook's smirking face, Taehyung let out a sight of relief, though also laced with giddiness.

Jungkook started chuckly hoarsely, as though the expression on Taehyung's face amused him. At this, Taehyung found himself biting back an insult as he remembered his true reason for being here.

"Yes, these are for you," Taehyung mumbled shyly, as he held his hands out, offering Jungkook the boquet.

Obviously, the ghost took it, his cold hand brushing against Taehyung's in the process.

"Let me guess, Queen Anne's Laces?"

"Yep"

Jungkook spun the boquet around in his hand, as though inspecting it before dipping his head down to smell them.

"They smell wonderful, just like carrots."

Taehyung giggled, "Yeah, and your fans always used to call you a bunny."

Joining in with the laughter, Jungkook gave Taehyung a small smile.

"Did you remember?"

"Huh?"

"Did you remember that I was going to plant these before I died?"

Pursing his lips tightly, Taehyung shook his head slowly, like he was ashamed of the fact that he did. But instead of getting teased by Jungkook like he expected, he was instead met with a hug. A, surprisingly, warm hug from Jungkook. Not knowing what to do, Taehyung hugged back, wrapping his arms around Jungkook's shoulders as the ghost buried his head into his own shoulder.

"Thank you, Taehyung," Jungkook mumbled, his voice muffled by Taehyung's small yet comfortable shoulder.  "Seriously, thank you, Taehyung."

"No problem," Taehyung replied, gently patting te ghost's back as he didn't know what else to do.

Eventually breaking the hug, Jungkook looked into Taehyung's eyes. This allowed Taehyung to see how glossy they were, as though Jungkook was holding back his tears.

"No, you don't understand, Taehyung," Jungkook almost pleaded as his voice cracked—but only just in the slightest. "You don't understand. I am trapped here. I am confined  here for all eternity. I—I can't even walk outside the doors of this house. I am bound  here, don't you understand? I can't—I can't even go to my garden anymore. The garden I worked so hard to make, the one thing that made me happy. The one thing I could do without the cameras constantly rolling, documenting my miserable life."

Jungkook choked back a sob.

"Thank you, Taehyung. For bringing this to me. I've always wanted to have Queen Anne's Laces in my garden. Only a few steps away from me. So I could always go to them whenever I pleased. Queen Anne's Lace are actually my favourite flower."

Taehyung stayed quiet, silently observering Jungkook as he was having his moment.

"I wanted to plant these last. You know, how people always save the best things for last?"

The teary-eyed ghost looked at Taehyung, who nodded in sympathy. He couldn't even imagine the pain Jungkook was feeling now. How it would feel to be stuck somewhere forever, forced to look at something you love, and yet not being able to go to it.

"Thank you, Taehyung. Truly."

"Y—you're welcome. And I actually," Taehyung scratched the back of his neck in embarrassment, "came to appologise to you. You know, for being so mean yesterday."

At this, Jungkook grinned, "Likewise. I shouldn't have shouted at you like that yesterday. Truth is, you are the only person who has come to see me. Since the police wrapped up their search at the crimescene yesterday evening, I was beginning to think that I would be forever alone here."

"It's okay, Jungkook," Taehyung said as he looked at Jungkook with a small yet noticable smile,"you have me now."
