School got worse than it's ever been. Heck, life got worse than it's ever been.I was sad all the time, and I stopped talking at school. I refused to eat for a while, but I almost passed out so dad made me. Since I was so depressed all the time, he took me to therapist. I hated it there. It was an old stuffy room, dusty furniture, and a stupid, old cat that hissed at me when I walked in. The therapist herself was the worst part. She was old and always yelled at me to get over Starlights death. I begged dad to stop making me go, but he refused.
Aiden and his friends continued to bully me. In the past week they stole my books and hid them on the roof of the school, locked me in a janitors closet, and threw eggs at me one morning on my way to the bus stop. I really really hated Aiden. I hated this school. I hated the city. I hated everything!Fortunately, this special day, was going to be a good one.
I slowly rolled out of bed and got dressed. I put on jeans, a sweatshirt, and my converse. I did my morning routine, and then ate breakfast. I grabbed my backpack and keys, then I left. I held my breath as I left the apartments, because I knew Aiden would be waiting. Though, today he wasn't.
I walked to the bus stop and got on the bus. I hadn't seen Haley since we left the Red Cross center. Apparently, she had been complaining about head aches when she got home, so they took her to a doctor somewhere in Dallas. She has been gone all week. I hoped she was doing okay. Dad tried to call, but no one answered.
Soon, we got to school and I made my way across campus to my locker. I got out my Social Studies stuff, and sat outside the class until Mrs.Stroog opened it when the five minute bell rang. Class went by fast, and I barley paid attention anyway.
Next, I had science. Science was really boring to me. Today, was experiment day. My partner was Dallas Daniels. He was the biggest idiot in school, but also the most popular. He had a new girlfriend everyday. A major player, and a major flirt. He tried to flirt with me, even though he had a girlfriend. I always ignored him though.
Once I survived science, I had math and then art. In Art, we presented our cartoons. Anna, Grant, Jerome, and I went first. Our cartoon was about a super hero trying to defeat the evil Dr.Cat. It was really funny. By the end of our 3 minute film we had the whole class laughing. For once, I actually felt pretty good.
After art, I had lunch. I ate by myself...again. After lunch, I had German. German was one of my favorite parts of the day. It was a really fun class and I actually paid attention. This is one of the few classes where the teacher didn't hate me. After German, I had my last hour, which was English.
We had a substitute today. The worst substitute in the entire district, Mrs.Trollspit. You could ask anyone in the entire school, or any school the district, and they'd say she's the worst. She yelled at kids for no reason, and overreacted about everything! And today, of all days, I was tardy.
"Why are you late!" She yelled.
"My locker wouldn't open," I explain.
"That is no excuse! You are suppose to be in her when the bell rings!" She exclaimed. "What's your name?"
"Mazie Grace," I muttered.
"Don't you take that tone with me young lady!" She yelled.
I rolled my eyes and took a seat in the back. We mostly read our book club books and answered the questions about it. I was so happy when the bell rang. Mrs.Trollspit's voice was giving me a headache. She was yelling at two kids who were arguing. I grabbed my stuff and walked to me locker. I did my combination and threw it open.
"Ow!" Someone winces.
I move my locker door out of the way and see Aiden standing there holding his forehead.
"Oh, sorry about that," I mutter.
"It's fine," he starts. "I wanted to talk to you."
"About what?" I say as I put my books in backpack.
"There's something I've been meaning to-er-tell you," he explains.
"This isn't just a distraction and one of your friends is going to come out and slap me or something?" I ask.
"Oh, no, I came alone," he promises. "I wanted to ask you- er tell you- I mean if you wanted to-ugh if you wanted to uh- go to the dance with me?"
"Wait, what? I thought you hated me?" I ask.
"Well, since you came here, I kind of had a crush on you," he explains.
"Then, why did you prank me all the time?" I questioned.
"I don't know,it was the only way I could think of to get close to you," he explains.
"Well, thanks for sending me into that deep depression," I mutter as I begin to walk away.
"Look, I'm really sorry about that. I really do like you a lot," he explains as he follows me. "So, will you please go to the dance with me?"
"Alright, fine, but if you or your little minions come out from behind a bush and push me into the fountain or something tomorrow, I'm not going," I explain.
"I won't, I won't, but do you mind if I use that?" He asks.
I smile and roll my eyes as I run to catch my bus. I think to myself as I sit down:
'What just happened?'
