Mazie Grace

Chapter Nine

"Because I'm all about that bass,bout that bass, no treble,"Dad sang as we drove home.

"Dad stop!" I yelled.

"I'm just trying to cheer you up that's all,"Dad explained. I didn't reply.Dad turned down the music."So, you know Thanksgivings coming up."

"Yeah, what about it?"I asked.

"I was thinking of going back home for your thanksgiving break," dad explained.

"Really! Oh my gosh! Seriously!"I screamed.

"Yes, seriously!"Dad exclaimed.

I was talking and yelling the whole ride home.I couldn't wait for thanksgiving break!When we got home I went straight to bed.Images played in my mind of the farm.I missed the farm.All night I dreamed of what it would be like to go back home for the first time in a few months.

I slammed my locker shut and headed off to Art. Haley was in my art class, but her seat is on the other side of the room. At my table group, there was Anna, Grant, and Jerome.

Anna was nice, but she always talked to a her friend behind her. Grant was really good at drawing and mostly sat quietly when we do group things. In some ways he reminded me of Andrew, minus the emo thing. Then there was Jerome, most annoying boy on the planet! Jerome gets on my last nerves sometimes.

"Alright class, today we will be starting the group project we talked about yesterday,"He announced. For our project we had to design a character for a action movie. Eventually,we'll create a cartoon for the character."You may begin."

"Okay, so let's brainstorm some ideas on a scrap piece of paper,"Anna explained as she grabbed some scrap paper."Should it be a guy or girl?"

"I vote girl,"I announced.

"It should be a guy,"Jerome yelled.

"So, we have a tie,"Anna said.

"You aren't voting?"I ask.

"No,"She said with no further explanation."So, Grant your the tie breaker."

"Um..."He said looking up."I...I don't care."

"Guy or girl Grant!"Jerome yelled.

"Jerome, quiet down please,"Mr.Bower said.

I think I like Mr.Genes better surprisingly.He does more exciting projects.Though,Mr.Genes probably would of screamed 'Shut up,Jerome.'At least it wasn't me.

"Guy, I guess,"Grant mumbled and went back to his drawing.

"Okay, so what's the super power?"Anna asked.

"How about strength!"Jerome exclaimed.

"How about cleverness,"I contributed.

"Okay, Strength and cleverness,"She mumbled jotting down the ideas."So,now someone needs to draw the outline of a man or boy,how about you Grant."

I think it was obvious Anna liked Grant. I don't think he seemed to notice. So, after class I confronted Anna.

"Anna, can I talk to you?"I asked as we walked down the hall.

"Sure!"She exclaimed.

I arrived at my locker and opened it.

"Well, I don't know if this is true or not, but you seem to look as if you have a..."I explained. I paused to lower my voice."A thing for Grant."

"Oh..."She whispered as she blushed."Well,sort of."

"You should ask him to that dance,"I suggested as I grabbed my lunch box and slammed my locker shut.

"No way! I'm to shy, and he doesn't seem to know I exist,"She confessed.

"I could do it for you,"I suggested."Or set you to up."

"Um...Sure!"She exclaimed.

"Okay, I'll go right now,"I said. I walked into the lunch room and set my stuff down at the usual table.

"Hey, where are you going?"Haley asked.

"On a mission,"I whispered.

I looked around the cafeteria for Grant.I spotted him in the corner with two other boys. Tanner and Cory, I think. I walked over to the table.

"Hey, um, Grant can I talk to you?" I asked.

"Uh, I guess,"He said.He stood up and we walked over by the bathrooms.

"So, you know Anna right ?"I asked.

"Yeah,"he replied.

"Well, she told me that she has a crush on you,"I explained.

"Really!"He exclaimed."Because, I've sort of had a crush on her for awhile."

"Would you like to talk to her?"I asked.

"Yes,"He replied. I walked away and over to Anna.

"Someone wants to talk to you,"I explained.

I pointed to Grant and she got up and walked over there. I went back to my table and sat down. I opened my lunch box and started eating my Peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

"What was that all about?"Haley asked.

"I was playing Cupid,"I explained as we both laughed.

On the bus ride home, Haley and I talked about how I was going back to the farm for thanksgiving break.

"That sounds fun, I wish I could come!"She exclaimed.

"Maybe you can,"I said.

"Wait really?"She asked.

"I'll have to talk to my dad,"I explained."But you could meet my horse Starlight, we could ride horses, play with my cousins, and eat lots of turkey."

"Okay, I'll ask my parents,"She said. The bus came to our stop and we went our separate ways.

Once I got home, I asked my dad if Haley could come and he said yeas. Then, I got a phone call from Haley and her parents said yes. I couldn't wait for this trip!

So,I updated,Yay me!!!

Recap-Mazie's going home for break!Then,Mazie played Cupid for Anna and Grant.(If you liked this characters don't worry they'll be back).And now Haley is coming to the farm with Mazie.
