Chapter 4

I wake up with last night weighing on the forefront of my mind. I wish it was a dream, I try hard to think that it was, but it’s all too vivid, too real. I sit up, my back aches from lying on Brookes cold, wooden floor. My phone is lying next to, illuminated.

*1 missed call from Hunter Carson*

Why the hell would he be phoning me? He said he would but I presumed he was joking. I’m not in the mood for his sarky comments anyway, plus my dad would kill me if he knew I was even speaking to him let alone having his number in my phone. He gave it to me when we were younger and I guess he’s never changed it, well then again, neither have I. My phone starts ringing again and this time it waked Brooke up which is hard because she’s the heaviest sleeper I know.

“Who the hell is that at this time in the morning?” She whines and pulls the sheet over her head to cover the noise. I never actually checked what time it was; 4:35am. Are you serious? It must be important, mustn’t it? Hunter Carson wouldn’t just phone me at half four in the morning just to piss me off.

“Brooke its Hunter.” I say, hoping that she’s still awake.

“What?” this causes her to sit up and stare at me with utter confusion.

“It must be something serious right? I should call him back.” I pick up the phone hastily and swipe right to call him back.

“Clara, what are you doing? He’s a Werewolf.” She shout-whispers at me from her high bed, down to me on the floor.

“So what, someone might be in trouble.” I snap back at her in the same hushed volume that she used.

“You’re unbelievable.”

“Hey Hunter, what’s up?” What’s up? Why the hell did I say what’s up? How stupid can I get?

“I’ve found your cousin, Blair.”

“What? Where?” I say a little too loudly, earning a glare from Brooke.

“Down at the waterfall.” He speaks urgently into the phone.

“Okay. I’m on my way.” I begin to get up and start chucking on the clothes that are lying around me.

“Clara, hurry.”

“I am.” I say before hanging up the phone and chucking it on Brooke’s bed so that I can get changed faster.

“Where are you going?” Brooke swings her bare legs over the side of the bed and stands up beside me.

“Hunter has found Blair, I’m going to get her.” I pull on a pair of Brooke’s jeans and grab my phone off of her bed. I pull my hair up into a high ponytail so it’s out of my face.
