Chapter 3
It’s exactly how I envisioned it. Every detail the same. The marble floors and white rooms. I never thought I’d ever be in Hunter Carson’s house but to be fair I never really wanted to. This is so dangerous, us being here, but I couldn’t let Brooke come here without back up. Ben leads us over to the kitchen where I see the back of a few boys and one girl.
“Hey guys, this is Brooke.” Slowly they all turn round to look at Ben and his new ‘girlfriend.’
“Hey.” They all mutter not really taking any interest in Brooke at all.
“Come on, let’s go.” Ben puts his hand on the small of Brooke’s back and leads her out of the kitchen. I go to follow them but Blair stops me and shakes her head. I realise what she means, I don’t want to play third wheel do I?
“Let’s go find where everyone is.” Blair suggests and grabs my wrist to pull me out of the kitchen.
“Blair, we don’t want everyone to see us, what the hell are you doing?” I try to talk some sense in to her.
“Then we might as well just leave?”
“Fine.” I say giving in to her, we can’t leave so we might as well try to blend in and have a good time.
We walk through a door which leads to the living room that joins on to the hall. There is a large amount of people all around with red cups and horrible dancing taking place. To be honest it’s no different to any other party that I’ve been to. Blair soon joins them all and gets in to the middle of all of the teenagers dancing and taking shots. I look around but I can’t see Brooke or Ben. I have no one to talk to, nothing to do. I must look really awkward standing by the side of the madness all by myself, just watching.
“Not going to join in?” I know exactly whose voice that is.
“No.” I try to mask my voice and face as much as I can so that he can’t see who it is.
“Would you like to dance with me?” He tries to look at my face but I turn even further away.
“No thanks.” I mumble in response.
“Do you know who I am?” He chuckles as if I was being stupid to say no.
“Hunter.” I reply.
“Yes, so do you want to reconsider?”
“Not really?” I try my best to get him to leave but he’s so persistent, some would call it ‘pushy.’
He bends round to try and see my face and when he does his eyes go wider than I thought eyes could even go.
“Oh my god.” This time he’s the one who can’t get the words out, he’s speechless.
