Remember Me ~Gratsu~

❤Chapter 1❤

Gray's POV

It's been two weeks since Natsu left on that mission. He should've been back by now-actually he should've been back two weeks ago. Everyone is worried about him, he took such an easy job and hasn't come back. The two of us equal out in strength, despite being polar opposited and neither of us can beat the other in a fight using magic, we always tie. He's perfectly capable of defending himself, he never gives up. He would never just abandon Fairy Tail, this is his home, we're his family. 

Makarov sent Erza, Gajeel and 'Lilly, Wendy and Charla, and myself to search for him. If Gramps is sending people to look for someone it's because he knows something's seriously wrong. We all split up Erza heading into town, Gajeel and Lilly going who knows where, Wendy and Charla going to Blue Pegasus and Lamia Scale to see if they've heard anything, and I went to the woods. The idiot probably got lost, and if he's not there he may be at the job site. Damn it Natsu! Where are you? I continued through the woods but no one was there. There were no sounds that could possibly be Natsu, no adorable pink hair, or cute grin. Just nothing. All I could hear were the sounds of birds calling out, and the faintest chirps of the crickets coming out for the night. I was ready to cry, I just want my idiot back: I-i mean the guilds idiot, and I'm just getting frustrated...yeah.  

This is taking for ever, he's probably not even here. The sun is going down and I got a call from Erza saying that we're giving up for today. I gave a look back, and was ready to leave when I heard a groan. A human groan. I ran towards the source of the sound, and smiled for a second, before going into protective mode. Natsu was laying there, but he was unconscious and extremely beat up. There were cuts everywhere, and bruises covering every inch of visible space on his body. I scooped him up in my arms and left for the guild hall.

 I ran, almost crying again. I was scared. His breathing was slow, he looked like he was gonna die. No Gray, don't think like that! He'll be fine, he'll pull through like always! Nothing bad will happen! I tried to convince my self, but I was still scared. He was bleeding from the deep gashes and scratches on his back. He groaned in pain, tightly gripping my now bloody shirt. His skin was getting cold, hang in there we're almost at the guild. He nuzzled himself into me trying to stay warm.

We finally reached the guild, I shouted for someone to help me get him to the infirmary. Mira ran for the master while I laid Natsu down on his stomach. Some of the scratches needed stitches the others were just bandaged. We gave him some shots infused with pain killers, then laid him on his back. He actually looked peaceful, not to mention cute. He smiled in his sleep and mumbled, causing me to laugh quietly.

I stayed with him all day, and everyday after. He's been out for almost a week, his 'bruises' have mostly cleared, though after giving him sponge baths I noticed similar ones on his back and lower. He also had one huge bruise on each side of his hips, the master and I are the only ones who have an idea of what happened, but we'll have to wait until he wakes up to know for sure. The scratches on his back kind of look like he was hit with something, so we compared the marks to marks made with Lucy's whip and their almost identical. I'm scared....I can't help but feel like something's not right, like something's going to go wrong.

I was sitting next to his bed, his small hand in my larger one, humming to Natsu. It was late and I was watching him tonight. We decided to have someone with him all the time just in case he wakes up, or something more serious happens... I was lost in thought: about Natsu, about us. What were we? Friends? Rivals? Best friends? Though I know my feelings go far beyond friendship, he probably doesn't even think of me as a good friend. Just another person in the guild. A groan brought me back to the real world. I turned to face Natsu to see him stirring, and just when I thought he was going to settle down again, for the millionth false alarm, his beautiful forest green eyes fluttered open. The light was dim, so it didn't take long for his eyes to adjust, I watched him look around the room until his eyes landed on me. I was blushing slightly, but I didn't care; nor did I care about my pride at the moment. I smiled widely at him and hugged him tightly. "Thank God....Thank God you're alright..." I mumbled. He stared at me, tilting his head slightly to the right like a confused puppy. He opened his mouth to speak, but his words broke my heart.

"Wh-who are y-you...?"

His voice was small, and he was shaking. I reached out to touch him, try to calm him down. But he only flinched, moving away from my hand. My world came crashing down. "Natsu it's me,"  I started. "It's Gray!" He calmed down some, but still looked confused. He allowed me to bring him into my arms, he sniffled, tears wetting my shirt.

"Wh-where am I?" He mumbled. "Wh-who a-am I?" he began to cry harder into my chest. He was trembling again. I rubbed circles on his back hushing him, in an attempt to calm him down again.

"Relax...You're home, you're at Fairy Tail..." I whispered. "You're safe now..." I continued to whisper to him, until he stopped crying. "What happened to you, Natsu?" I asked still rocking him back and forth.

"I-i don't kn-know.......I c-can't rem-member anything...." He said into my chest. "All I kn-knew when I woke u-up w-was that I u-use a v-very o-old and p-powerful magic...." He paused. "a-and y-your name, but I kn-knew it w-wasn't m-mine.." My heart skipped a beat, he remembered my name. Out of everyone in the guild...he remembered my name. Not Lucy's, not Erza's, not even Happy's...mine.

"Don't worry...We'll all help you remember." I mumbles into his pink hair. He smiled that beautiful smile I'd missed so much, and hugged me causing me to blush.

"Th-thank y-you, Gray..." He whispered, laying back down. Just as I got up to leave, he shot up. "W-wait! D-don't leave m-me alone..." He almost sobbed. I gave him a smile.

"i'm just getting some food, do you want something?" He thought for a minute.

"C-can I h-have a cookie...?" He asked cutely. I smiled again.

"I'll be right back." I left the room, grabbing what I wanted and Natsu's cookie. He was asleep when I got back, so I left it on the night stand, then went to the guild master's office. I had to tell him...I opened the door to his office, he was sitting there looking through Natsu's medical files.

"Natsu's awake."
