drunk and sober

Lucia's POV:

I looked to my side to see hoseok, who was smiling ever so brightly. The neon lights brought a glow I've never seen in him, his energy rubbing off on me.

"Hey hoseok, what's up?" I said, nodding politely in greeting.

An evident blush, he looked away and rubbed his neck. "I uh, well I just wanted to say you look nice, you know, awake and all.." He laughed awkwardly.

I laughed," Thanks, I know you always see me sleeping in class so this is a good change of pace."

He nodded and started talking about french class and how much he hated it, which stemmed into his love for street dancing and animatedly chatting about hip hop dances.

"Lu, who's this?" Alina said, emerging from the bathroom, rubbing her stomach sorely and looking up tiredly.

"Oh, this is hoseok, he's in my french class." I said, helping her lean on me as she analyzed him closely. Hoseok just smiled and waved, giving a funny dad joke in response.

"He reminds me of a more energetic jin. Anyways, we should get back to our table if not tae will worry. Do you want to come with us?"Alina said, looking a little better and standing by herself.

Hoseok shook his head, "Nah, I actually came with my friend today, he's transferring to our school next week."

"Oh well, I'll see you later then. Have fun." I said, holding alina's hand as we walked away, waving to him as we left.

Taehyung stood up from the table as soon as he saw us. "Where have you guys been! I was about to look for you guys because you took so long.." He grumbled. Alina and I just gave him a sheepish smile as we sat next to sophia and jade. Namjoon and Jin seemed to be in some staring contest. Sophia smiled and moved closer to us, bringing along jade with her.

"Y'all look, I was just telling jade that bianca's parties always have the hottest guys. Take hottie #1 over there-" She pointed to a guy on the dance floor,"I forgot his name but he's in soccer. Then there's hottie #2 and 3 by the drink stand, I think they're in debate."

Jade chimed in excitedly pointing to another, "Oooh, he's hot, I've never seen him before!"

We all looked in the direction she was pointing and truly he was attractive, but next to him stood someone I knew that made me gasp. "What's wrong?" Alina asked, concerned.

"The guy next to him is hoseok, so he must be the kid transferring in next week.." I said, squinting to get a better look. Alina just said a simple 'oh' and sophia and jade just shrugged. "I hope he gets in one of our classes.." Jade said out loud, sophia laughing.

Namjoon looked over sharply, "Who are you guys talking about?" Jin and taehyung looked over with the same frown. "Just the new guy who's insanely hot." The boys scoffed when they looked to him, "My face is way handsome-er than his, I mean just look at my shoulders and cheekbones! An unparalleled beauty I must say," Jin said, tossing his imaginary hair over his shoulder. Namjoon sighed,"Jin, handsome-er isn't a word, get yourself a dictionary you uncultured swine." Jin looked at him offended, slapping his arm in retaliation. Sophia just looked at him in disgust and just muttered a 'conceited little bitch', but everyone heard it. We all laughed it off and continued on with our party games.

"Hey Tae, I got a question.." I said, after me and taehyung sat on the stairs, me drinking water and him drinking some smirnoff. "Shoot, I'm all ears."He said, taking a small sip.

"What do you think about dating, like since we're in our senior year and all. I mean it's probably just me, but you know just studying all my life and not really being super into romance and my 9 year crush,lead me to believe I'll never actually date someone, you feel me? Like I just feel so inexperienced and inadequate that sometimes I'll just be alone all my life while I study myself to death. Like I know that I'll never date jungkook and at the same time I just feel like no one will ever love me for me." I said, sighing softly.

Taehyung hummed, looking up in thought, "I think we all are never ready to devote ourselves fully to someone, to care for them and their needs. But that's just part of the process, because as humans we are constantly learning every day. It's in our nature to seek someone,maybe a soulmate or just something temporary, but I don't think you'll be alone your whole life.Dating is a part of life where love comes naturally, and sometimes it takes time to find. Take this from me, you don't realize just how beautiful and smart you are, to myself and to others around you. Maybe you'll find someone this year or in 10 years, but whoever it may be, they'll be so lucky to be by your side." He said, smiling down at me.

I grinned, hugging him, "You right, thanks. You always give the best advice!" Taehyung patted my head, arms still tight around me. "Ok I'm gonna head out, I'm tired as hell." I said, standing up and stretching. We both walked to the table, where sophia and jin were arguing about who was prettier and namjoon was playing minecraft with jade. Alina seemed to be talking to girls from the dance team, so I bid them goodbye. "Are you all ok riding with Jin and Taehyung? I'm sorry for leaving early, I'm just hella tired." I said.

The girls gave me a thumbs up, Jin giving me a wink in response while namjoon just waved. "Want me to walk you to your car? " Taehyung said, setting down his drink on the table. I shook my head, "Nah, I'm good. I want take some time alone, you know, just to think."

Jin laughed his windshield wiper laugh, "I have no think, head empty, no thoughts." Sophia slapped her forehead, "Sometimes I wonder why-just why." I laughed and waved them off, the immediately starting on a debate on what is the superior chocolate, milk or dark.

As I squeezed myself around the crowded hallways, I finally made it to the door in one piece. As I turned the knob to open it, I felt an arm pull me back. I looked back to see who held me in their firm grasp, angry as I didn't like it when people I didn't know touch me.

"Lu..I missed you." Jungkook said, face red from the alcohol, obviously drunk.

I looked at him exasperatedly, slowly taking his arm off me. "Uh..ok. Well I'm just gonna go." I started turning around when he suddenly pulled me out the door.

"Wait, I just- Can we talk?" He gave me a pleading look, one I couldn't refuse. I nodded as he lead me to a small bench near a garden.

"So what did you want to talk about?" I said looking at him curiously.

"I-I want us to be friends again, it's just... I really miss when we were friends and I knew we drifted apart but I want to get to know you again and for us to be close again."

I couldn't believe what he had said. Was he only saying it because he was drunk? Would he had said it if he was sober?

"Can I think about it? I just have a lot going on and need some time if you're cool with that.." I said after thinking for a moment.

"Of course! take your time- I'll wait as long as you need me to." He said, smiling his bunny-toothed grin.
