I'd managed to finish 3 thongs and a high-waisted pair of fully lace undies with a cute cut-out in the back before my hands started to get tired. I knew I should stop before I made a mistake and had to redo it later, costing me time and money. I decided that I would call it a day and get the crates unpacked in the main cottage. I had opened up all the kitchen cabinets to air out so placing all my cutlery and crockery wasn't too difficult, although some cabinets had lost their doorknobs and needed to be replaced. Another chore on my growing to do list. After the kitchen was unpacked, I moved to the lounge getting ready to heft the large cabinet up the stairs to use as a dresser for my clothes, but not even two steps up, I realized how very difficult it was going to be. Stopping before I got too far into it, I removed the cabinet drawers and walked them up separately before I tried again. On the second attempt I was successful but very out of breath and sore. After I'd unpacked my clothes I decided I'd have a bath. Lugging the few crates of clothes upstairs and beginning the process of unpacking was tricky without a bed to spread them all out on but I managed to by kneeling on the floor and using my blow up mattress as a surface.
Most of my clothing fit in the cabinet but a few peices that I preferred to be hung up were left out. I'd have to make a plan for those.
Finishing up in the bedroom I ran a bath, substituting the hot tap with water boiled on the stove as I hadn't got my plumbing perfect yet. But it was a lovely treat at the end of a long day.
I added finding a plumber to my growing list of home improvements.

The next morning I decided to pack up a case of store peices in my size and do a small shoot in the forest as the weather looked perfect. Walking with my pieces and the camera equipment was a task but I didn't have to walk long before a small clearing with some beautiful fallen trees caught my attention. A perfect place that was slightly secluded for when I had to change.I set up the camera and tripod and began with slacks and bralettes as they were the easiest to change into, quickly slipping in and out of them behind a wide tree. It felt exilirating to be able to shoot in nature. The cool breeze on my skin made my cheeks flush.
Slipping into one of the 5 dresses I brought, the hemline tickled my dew soaked feet. I moved the camera a bit and chose to balance on a fallen log, I imagined that I was a fairy or an imp tiptoeing through the forest so as not to be found out.
But I would be found out, because just at that moment, another large German shepherd bounded out of the brush from right behind me and I lost my footing before tumbling onto the floor. I knew before I looked that this dress would have to be remade or washed and sold at cost. It was a pity.
My thoughts were interrupted by a large tongue licking my ankles and feet. I laughed and pushed the dog away.
"Blue?" I giggled. "what are you doing that for?"
Blue look as though she would roll over and expect pets but seemed to reconsider as she trotted away back towards the direction she came. Turning to follow, I was startled to find a man standing and waiting for her.
"Oh goodness, I didn't even hear you coming" I state, my voice a high-pitched whisper.
"You should keep a better ear out when you're alone up here, never know what's lurkin'," he mumbled, staring at my now disheveled hair. I wasn't sure if he meant it like a threat or not but I didn't really want to find out.
"Are you Blue's owner?" I changed the subject.
"hmm", he hummed, nodding. "I own the land left of this forest. D'you buy the land with that old Cottage on it? "
"Yes" I replied, suddenly wondering if I should have confirmed that.
"What's your name?" I asked. I could at least try get to know my neighbor. Maybe he would grow kinder.
"Dorian. Fisk." he didn't ask mine in return.
"Nice to meet you, Dorian. I'm Day."
"Day as in, Daisy?" I wa surprised my his question. He hadn't seemed interesting in having a conversation before this.
"No, just Day" I smiled
He seemed to nod and turn on his heel to leave. It seemed our conversation was over.
"Do you know anything about plumbing?" I yelled after him. Now why would I ask him that. I didn't really know if I wanted to spend any more time with him.
He didn't reply.
After that I didn't feel so comfortable dressing and undressing in the forest so I packed up my clothes and camera and began the walk back. While I was walking I couldn't help but think back to Dorian. He seemed very rough around the edges. Like he'd been living here a long time. I wondered about what his story was. Blue seemed to love him so maybe I could trust him, become friends? It would be nice to have some company. He didn't seem too much older than me, too but his face was mostly covered by a long unkempt beard so I couldn't really tell.
By the time I'd finished my day dreaming I had made it back to the house. I replaced my shop pieces in the shed and locked it up before going inside to inspect my shins when I had fallen. No massive damage but I knew it would bruise by tomorrow. I quickly made dinner and looked around for some cream and a plaster before getting to bed. My blow up was becoming uncomfortable, hopefully my new foam one would be delivered soon.
