CHAPTER 2:
NEW ASSIGNMENT"Yes, you've heard it right! You are now part of my squad." The man named Pierre Vonreagal said.
"And, when my men came here yesterday you weren't here. Since you're unreliably irresponsible I decided to come here personally. Pack your things up and move to Tharus as quick as possible. I'll give you one week to do that; if you arrive late I'll make sure to give you a permanent dismissal order is that clear!" he added.
"Yes sir!" I replied and went salute.
I can't afford to lose my job; thank goodness I was only moved and not kicked out. I sighed and calmed myself down. My "new captain" walked out of the station and rode a police car. So they already came here, yesterday while I wasn't here, huh? Why on earth are important events happening when I'm gone? Anyways, Tharus is just nearby Travos isn't it? People often call these two places as the twin city of Thravus. I wonder why the FHD placed me there. As ordered I packed my stuff and prepared my requirements and files. Three days have passed, I said farewell to my workmates at the police station. This is it isn't it? I'm going to that city. Wait, I came to think of it; Tharus is near Ascaran Valley, my hometown...

I felt sleepy looking out the window; there I saw high buildings and towers. I looked at my wrist watch to check the time which is thirty six minutes past eight in the evening. There were too many passengers and it is too crowded. As a result I was forced to stand. I hoped I could find a good seat if I got here by seven in the evening. Since it is nighttime only a few people would become passengers, therefore I would have more chance to sit. However it seems that I'm wrong, so this is what you call a rush hour.
"We have arrived at the second station of Tharus." The conductor said on microphone.
Ah, I've made it to the final station at long last. That's right; I rode the train to get here. As I came off the train, I saw someone wearing a mask. Oh, I think I saw him at the bus station before. Yeah he's the same man I saw back in Travos I cannot be mistaken. I'm sensing a really familiar yet sinister vibe from him. He feels so different now, and speaking of which, he wore a different mask from a plain one into a dog-like mask.
"Ho? What a terrible coincidence this is." He said while walking towards me just like before.
"Ha, a coincidence it is." I quickly replied back.
We both stopped on walking and faced each other, however he somewhat averted my gaze.
"What is it that needs you to be here?" he asked
"Uh... Yeah, well I'm a police you see. And I was originally assigned on Travos but I was moved here in Tharus. Well, do you live here?" I cautiously asked.
"I see, very well then. Ah! That's right, which do you think is best?" he stated and started walking towards me.
"Huh?" I warily said.
"Hmm... Which would you say is the best way to live? Is it to live while you suffer loss, despair, and pain? Or to live happily while you're imprisoned in a white room ever since you are born without knowledge of what you are and what your purpose is? He said as he walked pass me.
The sinister aura he possessed spiked that I felt fear. Who is he? I'm feeling like he's a bad guy or should I say a criminal. Maybe it's just me; I wonder what face hides in that dog-like mask. I just noticed that he has a long hair with a shade of dark partnered by the long black coat he wore. I looked back and hoped my brain can answer his question; however I didn't come up with any. I just stared at him as he walks away and head towards the train. Then I watched him as he rode it and until it took off. His mysterious yet sinister aura filled me with interest. Fascinating, I wonder what his identity is. I turned around and moved towards the new apartment I rented.
