A/N - Unstable's Dawn name is Lachesism and Unpredictable's is Monachopsis. This chapter sticks to the general plot of their death, but with my own twist.
In NO WAY WHATSOEVER is this intended to be a ship. I'd like to make that clear. If they are described as "partners" or "the duo", etc it is meant strictly for diversity of adjectives. They are simply best friends. This also goes for the ending when Radiant and Unstable bond.

"Lachesism: The desire to be struck by disaster - to survive a plane crash, or to lose everything in a fire."

"Monachopsis: The subtle but persistent feeling of being out of place."

[TW// THIS CHAPTER CONTAINS TRIGGERS SUCH AS DEATH, DROWNING, SHIP CRASHING, GORE AND YELLING.]

Late August, XXXX - The docks of Sunrise, Republic of Aurora.

Lachesism_Dawn was a talented pilot.
He worked for the Republic of Aurora's prime minister, Enouement_Dawn as a Dawn operative. He enjoyed his job very much. His favourite part, however, was that his co-worker just so happened to be his best friend: Monachopsis_Dawn.

Lachesism was a deal shorter than his accomplice, at around five foot eleven inches. The operative had a mop of soft and neat platinum blonde hair atop his head. His skin was quite pale and he had a pair of striking lapis eyes. Of course, he wore the traditional Dawn uniform; a deep green overcoat draped over a dark gray dress shirt and tie.

Monachopsis was taller, perhaps six foot one and a half. Fluffy chestnut hair covered his head with soft, copper eyes. He also wore the same Dawn uniform. The Operative had bipolar disorder, which caused him to have severe mood swings quite often; but Lachesism always helped him through it.
Monachopsis worked as a part of the Dawn mechanical crew, often tagging along on Lachesism's missions using the excuse "What if the blimp breaks down? He'll need help!"

The two were inseparable, practically brothers. They had been friends since childhood and volunteered to join the war together.
"If you go down, I'll have to go with you." Monachopsis had told Lachesism when they signed the volunteer form.

"It should be a quick trip, correct?" The taller asked his friend with a heave as he loaded up the last little bit of cargo.

Lachesism nodded, boarding the blimp alongside the chestnut. "If the weather is clear and we don't have any disturbances, we'll be back in two days tops." He glanced at Monachopsis, who had a hint of anxiety glinting in his pale copper eyes.
"Don't worry, Mon, everything'll go swimmingly! Get it? Swimming? Water?" He chuckled a bit at his own joke, making an attempt to lighten his friend's mood.
Monachopsis looked down at him and cracked a smile, shoving the platinum a little with his elbow and continuing to walk forward to the control room. "Honestly Lach, you need to work on your comedic act." He said through laughter.
The shorter giggled and ran forward to join his friend.

Somewhere over the [REDACTED] ocean.

Monachopsis looked out of the blimp side window. The view was absolutely gorgeous. Lachesism had been flying all day, and seeing the flaming sunset reflect a ruby red onto the crystal waters left him awestruck. The chestnut stood there and gazed out into the distance for a moment, admiring its beauty. It was more than breathtaking, just to say the least.
His mind wandered to where they were going to drop off the cargo to. Perhaps once he and Lachesism got there, they could spend an hour or two exploring this new and exciting place. The mechanic smiled, enjoying the thought.
Suddenly, he saw something strange on the water. The shadow of something large.
Monachopsis squinted for a moment, looking at the disfigured black shape before slowly looking up to see what was causing it. He gasped out as he laid his eyes upon the sight before him. It looked to be another ship, similar to their own in the distance. There were few a differences, but what made him gasp out in fear was the large, blood red triangle that sat on the side.
