Epilogue

The warm, late spring's breeze gently tugged at the thin curtains as it blew into the room, filling the dormitory with the scent of the fully bloomed flowers outside mixed with the faint smell of ocean air. While the sun shone through the patched clouds in the sky and the birds quietly sang outside, the student still lying in her bed slept soundly. However, not too much longer after the school's midday bell had rung, a small ruckus that seemed to be getting closer and growing louder woke her. Her eyes sleepily opened as she hoped the sound would turn out to be something other than what she was assuming it was. To her slight dismay, her guess was spot on and soon after she had sat up in her bed and reached over to her nightstand to grab her oval shaped spectacles, the ruckus burst through the door.

"Em! Em! Em! Look!" The blonde haired clatter yelled in excitement while holding an opened envelope out in front of her, her school uniform disheveled from her rush.

The still somewhat sleepy girl put her spectacles on and looked closer at the envelope to see that it had the words: "Emiru and Allison" written on it, indicating that it was addressed to her and her noisy dorm mate.

"Ally, why must you be so loud? It's just a letter." Emiru said, slightly lifting her spectacles and rubbing her eye.

Allison gave her a pouty look, her arms akimbo, before speaking up.

"It's not just any letter. It's a letter from Myla. We only get a few of these per year from her since Korandale is so far away. Even for the messenger bird spell Cogneil taught us, it's still about a two month travel time between Androse and Dorostead." The excitable blonde explained.

"It's been five years since everything happened over there. What could still be going on that's so exciting?" Emiru asked, standing from her bed and stretching her arms out above her head.

"Well for starters, she's apparently gonna be getting a baby brother pretty soon. Not to mention that she finally came out as a witch to her village." She said.

"And how'd they take it? They didn't chase her out of town, did they?"

"No, in fact it sounds like they really like her a lot there since the whole town apparently had a big party for her. It sounds so nice, I'd really love to go visit." Allison moped.

"It actually does sound pretty impressive that things have changed there so much. It's too bad that neither of us have been anywhere near Dorostead before and that St. Kareen's doesn't offer the six month vacation time needed for that kind of trip." Emiru smirked.

Allison sighed.

"I suppose I can't be too upset since the school was so accommodating to us; letting me in early so we could dorm together."

"Don't sound too grateful too loudly, the sisters might hear you and let it go to their heads. They only let you in a single year early and that was because you worked your butt off... Speaking of which, don't you have another class soon?" Emiru asked, walking over to the window and pushing the curtains aside.

Allison let out another weary sigh.

"Yeah I should probably get going soon. I wish I could be as good at magic as you Em... That way I could finish my classes by midterms and relax all day too." She groaned, leaning on the door frame.

"Don't worry, you're doing just fine. Besides, just sitting around like this is actually kind of boring. I'd really like to get out and see more..." Emiru said, leaning back and sitting against the window sill with her arms crossed.

"Well if you're looking to get out, we can go for a walk later before dinner. There's actually a store in town I wanted to check out. Can we go?" Allison asked, only half begging.

"Sure, that's fine." She chuckled, giving her friend a slight smile.

"Yay! Anyway, I'd better get going. I'll see ya later Em!" She said excitedly before closing the door.

Emiru turned and bent down, leaning her elbows on the window sill. She looked out over the school's garden to the ocean in the distance, pondering just how much of the world was still out there that her school couldn't teach her about. She wondered what it would take to see it all.

Bound To; Live On

<------------------------->

So here we are... I'm honestly not sure what to say aside from thank you for giving my story your time and attention, it really means a lot to me that you stuck with me until the end. I was actually kind of surprised after I finished writing this part and sat back. "Woah... it's actually finished." Was what went through my head. I'm a bit happy and sad to put it simply. It's not that I'm happy it's over, it's more like I'm happy it got its ending, ya know? Now as some of you may have noticed, I actually updated the title to Bound To; The Wish of the Witch instead of just Bound To; this is because while this story is over, this is not the last you'll see of Grain and the rest of this world. I have a second story in mind for this series that I'm working on. As you may have picked up on from some of the less than subtle insinuations I was making by featuring Emiru here as the protagonist of the epilogue, our ex-gate child will be one of our two heroes in the next story. At the moment that's all I can really tell you about that because number 1, I really don't have a lot set in stone about the next one aside from a general premise and short cast of characters, and 2, that story is going to take a while for me to plan out and actually start writing. However, that isn't to say you've heard the last of me. I have quite a few other projects that I plan on sharing with you all and I'm happy to say that I'll be uploading a sort of introduction/description of the next project I will be devoting the majority of my time to within the next few weeks. Anyways, before I end up making this longer than the actual epilogue, I'll wrap things up here... Thank you again so much for reading my story! I hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it and I hope to see you again at the end of whatever work of mine that you read next! Bye!
