"Quite a performance. Those rangers made a fight to the death look elegant, wouldn't you say? And a close one at that." Chess said through an audible grin.

"They certainly do." The woman's voice said, lightly laughing through closed lips. "But I could tell the other one had no chance of winning. Not against Tori.

"No?" It said, pretending to sound surprised. "It sounds as if you have a degree of faith in another person. That's new. What's gotten into you M'lady?" It snickered.

"I believe I've learned a few things about this man over the last ten days. I've come to enjoy watching him." She said. "I must admit I find his strength and discipline attractive. I can certainly relate to his secretive nature as well as the loneliness he's felt..." She paused. "But you already knew that Chess. That's why you showed him to me after all." Chess began laughing before he responded.

"Now what would make you say that?" It asked, continuing to laugh, not bothering to deny her accusation.

"I honestly haven't the slightest clue just yet Chess, but I know you have the best for me in mind. You always have. That's why I trust you my dearest friend." The woman softly said with a smile.

"Oh please M'lady, you're making me blush." It snickered.

The two stayed quiet for a short moment as she intently watched Tori move about within the crystal sphere.

"It won't be long now." She began. "I'll finally get to meet him..." She said in a slightly brighter tone.

Traveler's Notes

~ Very few people are privy to the sight of a ranger demonstrating their combat prowess, much less two of them fighting each another.

Much like in chapter 4, I decided to remove the witch's little smidgen at the end and turn it into it's own smaller chapter. It just felt right, ya know?
