Intense Conversations

We got in line and Michael ordered 2 hot chocolates. It surprised me that he still remembered, it'd been my favorite drink since I was little. I glanced over at Nic, hoping to find some kind of moral support, only to see that she was deep in conversation with Ashton. She was even blushing. Whatthecrap? I was pulled out of my thought by Michael grabbing my elbow and steering me towards a table by the window. We sat in awkward silence for a few moments, unsure of what to say. At least, I was unsure. "Do you know what mates are?" he asked, playing with the lid to his hot chocolate. I rolled my eyes. "Of course I do, you idgit. You meet them at 18 and it's all fireworks or some crap like that." He sighed my response, making me giggle in my head. I annoyed him. Good. "Weeeellll," he drawled out; "I turned 18 a few weeks ago. And I found my mate. She kind of hates me. Not that I blame her, I was a jerkface to her for so long." I furrowed my brow in confusion, the only person he was ever rude to was....me. Oh, heck to the no! "You have a girlfriend!!" His head jerked up at my outburst. "You have a girlfriend, the only person you're rude to is me, youhaveafreakinggirlfriend, and thereisnowaywe'remates!!!!"  He had a girlfriend. He was just messing with me, right? Right? This was some cruel joke that he had planned, it had to be. No other logical explanation. I glared at him and stood up, angry that he would do something as low as this. "Mates are no joking matter." I hissed before stomping away to find Nic.

Not gonna lie, the guy was cute. But his friend was an idiot who was rude to my best friend, so it was impossible for us to be anything. I think. We sat at a few tables away from Reign, doing what most teenagers did. Failing at small talk. "So how long have you been here? I swear I've never seen you before?" I smiled at his question. Time for twenty questions. Again. "I've been here for a few days. My old pack kicked me out because I refused to marry the Alpha's son. He was rude and not my mate. His died last year in a car accident." He perked up, interested in my background. "So, you've found your mate then?" he questioned, staring at me. I blushed under his gaze before shaking my head. "I don't turn 18 for another two weeks. Plus, mates scare me. I watched my mom fall apart after my dad died and I don't want that." He seemed sad at my answer, but I didn't get much time to think about it. Reign came storming up to the table and by the look on her face, things didn't go well. Not that I expected them to in the first place, but whatever. I gathered up my things before turning back to the boy. "It was nice meeting you." He waved at me, standing up as well.  He stuck his hand out for me to shake, but I refused. Handshakes are weird. Instead, I smiled before walking out of the door with Reign. "Boys are so stupid!" The door wasn't even closed before she started yelling. I giggled at her as we made our way home. It'd been an interesting day.

So guys, I'm the new co-author! Sorry if my writing is bit crap, but whatever. Enjoy!
