Alexandra POV
We pulled into the driveway of my childhood home. I unbuckled my seatbelt and opened the car door to grab my backpack and suitcase. I was surprised when I looked up and saw my Mom turn off the car and get out too. I figured she was going to talk to Aunt Mia because she didn't contact her to tell her that we were coming, but to my surprise, she went to the trunk and got her suitcases.
"Are you going to say?" I asked her. She looked up at me as she shut the trunk.
"Summers not over yet," she said smirking at me.
We went up to the front porch and Mom unlocked the door with the set of keys she had. We both walked into the house to see Aunt Mia in the kitchen with her back to us. Mom and I both set our bags down at the bottom of the stairs before walking through the living room to the kitchen. Aunt Mia turned around just as we entered the kitchen.
"Got room for two more?" Mom asked Aunt Mia smiling. Aunt Mia stared at us confused for a moment before she came and gave Mom and me a hug.
"What are you doing here?" Aunt Mia asked.
Mom looked over at me, "Go start to unpacking, ok?" she said.
I didn't want to leave but I nodded and walked out of the kitchen and through the living room. When I got to the bottom of the steps I grabbed my suitcase and backpack and carried them up the stairs to my bedroom.
The walls were still a nice shade of light purple but much had changed since I was a little girl, the spot where I used to build race tracks had a desk there now, the spot where my toy chest was replaced by a bookshelf, I also had gotten a larger bed and new bedspread a few years ago. Even though I had been here only a month ago it just didn't feel right it felt foreign.
I started to unpack and about 30 minutes later I heard Mom come up the stairs. She opened the door and I turned around to face her.
"Wow, this is different than I remember," she said talking about my room.
"Yeah, Is everything okay?" I asked.
"Yeah, don't worry' she assured.
"What did Aunt Mia say?" I asked.
"Lots of things, we can stay as long as we like, the café is doing better, the cops have been hanging out around the house a lot more, stuff like that" she answered.
"If we can stay as long as we want does that mean you are gonna stay for a while?" I question.
"Just depends" she replies.
"Do you know where dad is or if we will see him again?" I continue to ask.
"We will see him again where and when I don't know but... don't worry about it" she replies.
"Okay," I say.
"Alright, I will let you unpack. Mia said dinner should be ready in about an hour" Mom said as she walked out of my bedroom.
TIMESKIP
We have been staying with Aunt Mia for about three weeks. School was about to start again and Mom was gonna help Aunt Mia home school me since there was no way Mom was gonna get a job because she was a wanted criminal. Mom and I did a lot together between homeschooling and restoring the Charger Dad had somehow crashed. We had been closer than ever before.
Everything was going great we had a system. We would wake up and the three of us would have breakfast together every morning then Aunt Mia would leave to go do a shift at the café. Mom and I would then do my homeschooling and eat lunch. We spent the rest of the day in the shed until Mia got home and made us come in to eat dinner. Sometimes we would even go back out after dinner to work on the car.
