Chapter Two

There I saw them. Lying on the ground. Together. Finally at Peace.

Without me.

Everything else was a blur.

After seeing my parents I started coughing violently and fell to the ground.

I struggled to breathe as the toxic smoke invaded my lungs, tears streaming down my face as my vision started to blur. The sound of loud sirens and yelling filled my ears as I started to close my eyes.
My skin began to prickle as the flames crept nearer to my limp body on the floor.

Everything was going in slow motion, it almost didn't seem real.

I really thought that would be the end of my short life, until...

I saw a strong firefighter.

The firefighter had shoulder-long jet black hair tied together in a short ponytail.
He wore a large grey jacket with blue glowing stripes across the bottom.

(Kinda like the fire force one but shorter- eheh)

I could see his mouth move but I couldn't hear him, but as he got closer I could slowly started to understand him.

He forcefully grabbed me and yelled "Don't close your eyes!! You'll be ok!!"

Even through all the other loud sounds I could hear him almost too clearly. His voice was really like the one of an angel. So soft but yet strong.

My eyes widened slightly. That was a new experience for me. Normally all the voices I heard where kind of muffled, as if there was a glass wall separating us. I never noticed that a voice could be like that.

He ran down the narrow staircase with me in his arms.

My eyelids got heavier with every second that passed.

Just as we where about tho step outside, I whispered "I'm sorry..."

I sluggishly opened my eyes, everything was still blurry so I blinked a few times till my vision cleared.

Slowly sitting up I looked around. The room I was in was unfamiliar and very white, so I figured I must be a hospital. Turning my gaze to the side I noticed a nurse that was staring out the window into the hospital garden.

I cleared my throat softly to make myself more noticeable.
She looked at me and her eyes lit up.

"Finally! You're awake!" She said. Her voice was like every other.

Muffled. As if we were separated by a glass wall.

She stood up from her seat next to the window and picked up the clipboard that was on my nightstand. She checked all my vitals, ticking some boxes on the clipboard and then finally left.

" I wish I could see the firefighter again... He had such a pretty voice... I wonder if he's the only one with such a voice..." I thought to myself, a bit upset that all the other voices weren't the same.

I let my head fall back on the pillow with a long sigh. After a while of staring at the white ceiling, I looked out the window. Sakura petals were floating around in between the rays of sunlight. Everything was peaceful.

Tears started to roll down my cheeks and silent sobs of grief filled the air.

Remembering all that has happened really hit me like a brick. That really got the waterworks running.

" I-i couldn't e-even say g-goodbye... Why d-did I r-run? W-Why... Why.... Why didn't I die?...."

I continued to cry and cry. Almost as If I wasn't going to stop.

This went on for a while until I fell asleep, totally dehydrated and tired from all the crying.

~~~~~~~~~~~~ Time Skip— tomorrow morning ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Today, I was awoken by a soft shake. And to at least say something, it wasn't my favorite way to wake up.

I could hardly open my eyes thanks to all my dried tears but as they were finally were open I could see the nurse, a friendly looking guy and a serious looking woman.

"Hello. We are here to discuss where you will be going... since you don't have any living relatives..." the man said. Same as all others...

His voice was muffled.

He continued babbling as I started to zone out.
But what snapped me back were these six words:

"...you'll be staying at an orphanage..."

Oh Boy, this is gonna be tough.

YaYYY almost at my desired word count!!!!

About 800 words. Give or take a few.

We are almost done~~ don't worry not with the story~~ just with the long flashback

Levi will not appear for a couple chapters but he will eventually!!!
