Katie's pov

Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry, filled to the brim with halfbloods. My family is the most feared wizards to serve the dark lord. The Everette Johnson family. My mum Delphine and Xavier have served the Dark Lord for years, until the night he tried to kill Harry Potter. None knows what actually went down that night. The Dark Lord disappeared after that, some say he died but I dont think so.

Some speculate on the story. Potter told everyone he was back, some beloved him but most did not. After 4 year, everyone knew the Dark Lord was back, well to those who didn't read the paper. The Ministry of Magic wanted to tell everyone he wasn't back. I knew he was back from the beginning. And me and my best friend would talk about it with each other because he is the only person who gets what its like.

We share dark marks. We have both been sent on the same task. Draco Malfoy and I were tasked with the demise of Dumbledore. We were to kill Dumbledore our headmaster. We were to become Death Eaters like our parents. Although I would never tell a soul, I never dont dislike muggleborns, I was grown up to believe all muggleborns were horrible and to hate them.

To be completely honest, one of my best friends is a muggleborn. Of course she has told my parents she is pureblood in order for me and her to be friends. Of course I was put in Slytherin, and Draco was as well. 6 years with my friends group and it feels like yesterday that we were happy 11 year olds wanting to go be great wizards, its pathetic. Blaise Zabini, is apart of our friend group. In all there is 6 people in it, Blaise, Briar, Draco, me, Celeste, and Aiden.

We have all stuck together through everything. Even though we are best friends, Draco and I have chosen to keep quite about our status. They still dont know but I have a feeling they will figure it out soon.

"Are you ready to go?" Draco asked unenthusiastically. "Yep!" Briar spoke up.

In all honesty I am still thinking about why Briar isn't in Hufflepuff.  She is nice to people and is excited about life. I wonder what that feels like. Ever since we got our marks, i have noticed Draco being less smiley and more hard to everyone. I guess i have become like that too.

We walked to the trains and sat down in an empty compartment. "Is everyone excited for a new year here?" Celeste said sarcastically. "No." I said coldly. "Lighten up will you! This year is going to be great, Katie!" Briar tried to concede. "Yay, a great year!" I said with jazz hands.

Draco stifled a laugh. "Be more like Briar, just because he broke up with you doesn't mean you have to be a depressed, mopy person." Aiden spoke. I shot him a dirty look. "I'm not depressed Aiden." I said. "Sure does seem like it."Blaise said quietly.

"What was that Zabini?" I looked at him cross. "Nothing. But cant you just pretend to be happy, for Briars sake?" He asked. "For fucks sakes, shut up! I'm fine!" I yelled at them. I got up and left the compartment. Draco followed after me.

"Wait, Kat!" Draco grabbed my wrist. He twirled me around. "What Draco?" I shook his hand off and crossed my arms. "What was that back there? Are you okay?" He asked me. "Am i ever okay? They dont understand at all." Tears welled up but i refused to let them fall, its a sign of weakness. I couldn't help but shed one tear. "Hey hey, dont cry." He said wiping the tear off my face with his thumb. He cupped my face, "i understand, of course i do. It will be okay."

I nodded my head. I never realized how cute Draco was. The sum gleamed upon his chiseled face, his grey eyes filled with regret. "Done staring Kat?" He giggled. I threw his hands away from my face. "No, i think i need a little longer."  I joked. He seemed flustered by my comment. It's true I've always had a little thing for him, but he is my best friend for fucks sakes.

It wouldn't work in the long run. We walked back to the train compartment and sat down.
"Finished snogging yet?" Blaise commented. My eyes shot wide. "We were not snogging!" Draco said through gritted teeth. "Yeah i believe that." He started. "Not!" He said. I looked Draco and hid my face, a blush creeped up.

I regained my posture and crossed my arms with my signature scowl. I always had a jacket or long sleeve on for obvious reasons. "Whatever, your just mad you aren't getting any from Celeste. We all know you fancy her Blaise." I said. Draco chuckled. "I do not Katie!" He said, his face turned pink. Celeste looked at me. I shrugged my shoulders. "Are you being serious Kat?" She asked. " yeah, he fancies you girl." I smile. Her face lit up.

Blaise and Celeste spoke the whole time to each other. Maybe one thing will come from this bloody train ride. Every once and while Draco and I would exchange glances. Every part of me wanted to kiss him right here and right now, but that would be proving the point of Briar who, unequivocally, figured it out. Obviously, I denied it. But in reality, I want to be with him.

The train ride was only about a quarter of the way done, still have hours before we get to the school. I was feeling drowsy and, without thinking about anything else but comfort, got up and made Blaise move so I could cuddle with Draco. He has alway been my comfort person. He maybe cold to most, but with me, he shows his loving side, which I love.

"Blaise, get up." I say. "Woman, does it not look like I am sitting here!" He said. My face went to a burning look. "Get. Up. Now." I said in a low tone. "Nevermind, you can sit here. Damn your scary." He said. I smirked. He sat up going to my old seat and sitting down and resting his head on the glass of the compartment door. I sat down and laid my head on Draco's lap. I got comfortable and drifted off into a deep sleep.
