We all skate on to the ice onto the ice in a group to see 5 new players on the ice.
You: Connie theirs another girl
She squeals excitedly and we watch as one guy skates up and the rest stay back or move to other places.
Coach: tell me about my new kids
Don: that's Luis Mendoza. He's from our Miami club, a real speedster, incredible skater. I clocked him in at 1.9 seconds blue line to blue line.
He starts skating around the circle going backwards and forwards.
Connie: good looking skater
You: very good looking
Averman: you hear that. Guy? Adam?
Both: shut up Averman.
They both shove him over and I hold in my laugh as he gets up. Adam protectively wraps his arm around me and pulls me closer to show that I'm his or something. It's cute when he gets protective which happens whenever a guy besides the ducks or my friends even look at me. I continue watching Luis before he falls into the boards hard.
Don: he has a little trouble stopping
Goldberg: I'd say so.
The other 4 help him up.
Adam: not such a good skater now huh?
He whispers in my ear sending shivers down my spine.
You: not as good as you.
I whispers back and turn my head facing the ice again hearing him chuckle proudly before pulling me closer again.
"Yee-haw. How is everyone. Y'all ready to play some puck"
He throws a cowboy hat to the side and puts on his helmet.
Jesse: look it's hop along Gretzky.
That's causes a couple people to chuckle and I roll my eyes.
Don: that's Dwayne Robertson from Austin. He's the best puck handler I've ever seen.
Coach: you mean for his age?
Don: no I don't.
I watch as he does a bunch of cool tricks and stick handles through his legs. Then the girl in goalie equipment skates over to the net putting her helmet on.
Don: there's Julie the cat Gaffney. She won the state championships for Maine three years in a row.
Coach: well we have a goalie Goldberg.
Goldberg starts being his normal self and pretty much cheering himself on. He goes into the splits but gets stuck and falls onto his back.
Don: watch this.
We all skate and shoot on her as she saves all of the shots. We all end up in different areas now I'm beside Charlie and Adam while everyone else is separated. Another boy skates up pivoting as he skates, but the only thing I notice is that someone's finally shorter than me.
You: I like him I'm not the shortest anymore.
Charlie: until next year
I roll my eyes as Adam and Charlie both laugh.
You: fine then I'll go talk to Luis.
I smile before getting 2 strides in and being pulled back into Adam.
Adam: very funny Sav
Charlie: awe Adam's jealous.
Adam: am not
Charlie: let's just call Luis over here then.
Adam rolls his eyes and wraps his arm around my waist tightly and putting his head on my shoulder.
Charlie: Mendoza!
Luis looks over and Charlie waves for him to come. Luis immediately looks at me and smiles before skating over. Adam's grip tightens and he kisses my neck softly before resting his head back on my shoulder.
