"I will not help you run," Levi murmured unhappily.

"I'm not asking you to. I'm just saying that - as a medic - it's your responsibility to look after a patient."

Levi raised an unimpressed eyebrow.

"So I'm to take you with me all because you decided to get beaten up."

"Yes."

Whatever worked.

"Seriously, [Name]," Levi sighed as he pinched the bridge of his nose.

"I'll even allow you to take a look at my leg," you promised as a last ditch effort.

The man had been dying to do that.

"I believe that's a risk to my life I'd rather not take right now."

"What the hell are you talking about?"

"I think he's referring to your hero," Denzel drawled.

You glared at him for his word choice. Not to mention that you were certain he was making a pun about Heero's name.

"He's not my anything," you hissed and instantly bended double. Your ribs were not managing.

Levi frowned and steadied you.

"I've never seen you deny something so vehemently," he murmured as he steered you towards a spare chair.

You watched him walk towards a nearby closet and retrieve some pills you recognized all too well. Good. You wanted to dull the pain. Would they also work for the pain in your heart, though?

"I only do it because Denzel is too thickheaded to get it through his head."

"Of course he is," Levi wholeheartedly agreed, even if he stated it in a dull voice. Denzel frowned, but refrained from speaking. "That, however, has never forced you to act so rash before."

You grunted, annoyed that Levi was right. But what did they expect? You had spend four hours in that damn truck. A normal trip of only two hours had taken twice as long because of all the unnecessary pit stops Denzel took. You were fed up with him and his wisecrack jokes - not to mention the badly concealed worrisome comments about Heero - by the time you reached the border.

"Maybe I'm just tired of hearing his crap for four hours," you muttered.

"Take these," Levi told you as he offered you the pills and some water.

You scrunched your nose as the pills got stuck in your throat, before downing the entire glass just to be sure they were gone.

"Crap or not, he made the right decision. You shouldn't have been traveling."

"I'm fine."

One pointed probe near your ribs made you cry out.

"Yes. I can see that," Levi dully disagreed.

"Medics don't abuse their patients," you growled angrily.

"You're not my patient."

You glared at Levi.

"Denzel made the right call." Levi briefly looked at the man in question. "I'd say he makes those more often than you. What were you even thinking?"Levi questioned in a tone that obviously questioned your intelligence.

He probably understood the gist of it from Denzel - the guy had been muttering about your sudden and absolutely idiotic urge to confront Sasaki - when he had helped you pass an unwelcoming Levi as you entered his home.
