The Sandlot (Yeah Yeah x Reader)

Pool Day

Maybe a week or so passed/skipped:

Me and most of the boys were sitting on a bench dieing of heat while we watched Squints being pulled by Yeah Yeah across the field. They just got back from getting a new ball. Benny stood up "Where you guys been? We've been waiting here forever already." Yeah Yeah handed him the ball "Ah, Squints was pervin' a dish." Squints readjusted his glasses "Shut up. I wasn't."
"Yeah, yeah, you were. Your tongue was hangin' out of your head, and you was swoonin'. Oh, Wendy Peffercorn my darling lover girl." He laughed it off at the end. Squints rolled his eyes "I said shut up! I've got a lot of things on my mind." He stated, and then sat down with a drink of Pop. Oh yeah! I completely forgot about the drinks so I went to grab one, but instead of touching a drink I touched Yeah Yeahs hand. I could feel my face get red. I took my hand away "Sorry, get a drink already would you" I said. Yeah Yeah stared into my eyes deeply and grabbed two drinks, then handed me one. "Oh, thanks," I said opening my drink and taking a long sip. "All good" he replied while sitting down next to me and drinking as well.

Ham sighed "This pop isn't working, Benny. I'm baking like a toasted cheeser! It's so hot here!" He complained throwing his glove on the ground. I was starting to sweat "It's 150 degrees out there. You can't play baseball. You gotta call it for the day." I stated. Bertram pointed at me "You gotta listen to her, Benny."
I admit, I feel bad for not wanting to play baseball with Benny because I know how much he loves it. But it's just way too hot. "Vote then. Anybody who wants to be a can't-hack-it panty waste who wears their mama's bra, raise your hand." I mean this obviously isn't a hard choice... everyone raises there hand and chats in agreement. "Fine, fine, fine!" Benny said defeated. "Be like that. So what are we gonna do?" He asks. Yeah-Yeah turns to Squints laughing awkwardly. And then to everyone else.
"Scam pool honeys!" They all yelled.
I didn't want to go, it would be awkward watching them check out other girls while I was just swimming. Along with Yeah Yeah, I would probably get jealous or annoyed. I stood up "Guess I better get home then!" I said making it sound clear I didn't want to go. I started walking when I felt someone's hand grip my wrist, it was Yeah-Yeah "Aw, c'mon Y/n. I'm sorry, we won't be lookin' at pool honeys the whole time, please come." He begs. I turn to face him and meet his adorable blue eyes. "Fine, I guess." I said, trying not to seem like a care to much.

When we got there most of the boys jumped in the pool straight away, but I stood there testing the water when someone wrapped their hands around my waist softly and then they started pulling me into the water. "Yeah Yeah I'm gonna kill you!!" I yell before I splash into the water. I swim back up and I don't see Yeah Yeah anywhere. All of a sudden he comes out from the water in front of me and spits water in my face. "Ew- you- what the hell?!" I say frustrated yet again. He laughs uncontrollably. We start play fighting until all of the boys start swoonin' over Wendy Peffercorn the lifeguard. "I can't take this no more! Move!" Squints said while getting out of the pool and walking to the diving board at the deep end. Kenny sighed "Three summers of this and the kids finally snapped."
"I don't know. But that's the deep end, and Squints can't swim." Yeah Yeah says worried. Squints jumped off the diving board and fell in the water. We all start shouting as he doesn't swim back up. "Squints!" We all yell as we run up. Wendy Peffercorn dived into the water to save him, I hope she's quick enough, I think. She pulls him out of the water and starts doing CPR. "C'mon Squints.." I whispered. "Yeah, yeah, he looks pretty crappy." Yeah yeah said.

After about 5 seconds, Squints opened his eyes and smiled at us. "What?" We all said in unison. But then he pretended to not be breathing again. Wendy did one more deep breath when Squints pulled her into a deep kiss. She pulled away and pulled him by the ear "You little pervert!". I slapped my forehead "Aw, man, Squints is in deep shit!" I said. Wendy dragged him out of the pool with all of us running after him. "And stay out!" She yelled. The boys ran off to get their clothes but I stayed behind and stood next to Wendy awkwardly "I- uh- they're a little crazy sometimes- sorry" I apologise and then run off with them.

I walk fastly next to Squints with my towel wrapped behind my neck. "Oh, hey, hey, here's your glasses." I said giving them to him "Did you plan that?" I asked. He smiled "Of course I did. I been planning it for years" he answered proudly. I widened my eyes and watched Ham run to catch up with the other boys "You guys, he planned that! He knew what he was doing!"
We put on our clothes quickly and ran back to the sandlot and some to their houses.
We got banned from the pool though. That was a bummer.

As I finished eating my dinner the night after the pool incident Benny knocked on our door. Scotty opened it "Let's go. Come on! Get your glove on and come on." Benny urged. "What's the big deal?" I ask in the background. "Night game. Come on. Come on." He informs. Scotty calls out to mom "Mom, we're going out!" And then we leave, rushing through the door and outside. Apparently this was a big night, 4th of July so there was fireworks. And that also meant a baseball night game. That night was one of the best games of baseball we've ever played.
