Chapter 2: The Interview

Ali's POV.

I needed a break from shooting 'Starlight', sure I liked all my co-stars, but I needed a break. I talked to my Mom about some time off, but she said we had a pretty packed schedule. She said she would try hard to leave my birthday open for some time off. My birthday was in a week, I was going to turn fifteen.

"Alyssa, time to go." My Mom told me.

"Alyssa, aren't you excited? You're going to do an interview with Evan Corncrake about 'Starlight'." I laughed a little when she said Corncrake, I might be a professional actress, but it didn't mean I wasn't an immature teenager at heart.

"Yes, I am excited." I replied.

"I know you want a day off, and I'm trying." My Mom said sympathetically. I didn't really want anything big this year for my birthday like other people my age, all I really wanted was a friend. Sure I had lots of 'friends', but I didn't really have a real friend. I wanted to have a friendship with someone who wanted to be friends with me, not Alyssa Dilore, I know that sounds weird since it's my name. What I mean is, I wanted a friend that wants to be friends not because I'm famous, but because they liked me.

I see all the people around me having fun with their friends, doing stupid things, just living their carefree lives. Of course I've played roles like that, but I have never really felt it, my co-stars aren't the warmest bunch. I felt a little left out sometimes by them in interviews.

My starlight cast were nice to each other, they were fake nice to me. They felt that one of them should have gotten the lead role, that they shouldn't have to be the followers of someone who is fictionaly the same age as them, but actually seven younger. It also didn't help that I made slightly more money than them considering I was the main character.

Mom and I were in the Limo going through town, right now we were in New York. So far I liked it, it was a nice place, if you didn't count all the murders, and muggers.

It was just me and my mom, that's how we liked it, my dad tried to exploit me all the time when I was younger, he booked jobs, just for the money, a lot of the time the roles were very inappropriate for me. All he cared about was the money he could make off of me.

My parents couldn't have their own children, so they adopted me when I was a baby. My dad went along with my mom, she thought he wanted a child too, but he had his own secret plan that my Mom didn't know of.

There was this audition for Blarney when I was three, I loved watching Blarney, he convinced my Mom to let me do it, I remember it was a scary experience, I kept fumbling the words I was supposed to say, but they casted me anyway, because they thought I was adorable. I thought I was being yelled at everytime he yelled cut. The worst part was when Blarney took his head off, of course now I know that it was just a whole head mask.

After that my Mom refused to let my Dad have me on a set. He didn't like that one bit. He secretly took me to acting classes, at the early age of four. My Dad was so stealthy, my Mom didn't know about him secretly taking me to auditions, till she saw me on a special episode of 'Crime and Law'. She was horrified by what she saw, I was watching a man being stabbed, and another shot.

She stopped letting him take me places alone after that. When they got divorced when I was seven, he got custody of me, and he picked up right where he left off, exploiting me to shows, and movies for the money. My Mom didn't get any custody, because my Dad convinced the court she was unfit, and didn't have my best interests at heart.

As I got older, I got bigger parts, they started to out pay the other jobs. The first part I ever got that I actually enjoyed was about three best friends, they were trying to raise money for an animal shelter to be built, till it was, they cared for all the stray cats and dogs at one of the girls tiny houses.
