Ansel's Pov

I bolted awake, full of panic. I glanced around the dark room, my head was spinning.

No, No, No, No I chanted in my head again and again. It was so vivid. So real.

I felt tears form in my eyes, my life quivered. I was going to breakdown. It was too much, the fear and anxiety of my parents finding me. Taking me back.

I let out a small wail, and I started to cry.

I heard shuffles in the distance and I stiffened, tears came down my face but I couldn't move, I couldn't move to safety, away from the figure coming towards me. But something in my head told me I was safe.

"Hey, Hey, Hey, It's okay. Its just me, Y/N." The voice whispered, wrapping it's arms around me. I leaned onto her and cried. For a long time we just sat in silence, she rubbed my back.

"What happened?" She asked after a bit, her voice quiet, afraid I was going to run away.

"T-They came back, They t-took me away. T-they...." I hiccuped through my sobs.

"Shhhh, shhh, It's okay. They aren't here. I'm here," Y/N whisperef as she hugged me. It felt comforting but I could tell she was nervous.

I just sobbed while we embraced each other.

When I started to calm down Y/N asked if I'd like to go have a snack. I asked for her permission to do so and she smiled and reassured me.

She had gotten me apples with the core cut out and sprinkled in cinnamon.

"Im not much of a cooker." She said sheepishly. "No! This is amazing!" I squeaked after eating one of my slices. She smiled.

"Its about 5:38 am, which I was planning to wake up around this time anyway." She shrugged as she looked at the clock.

I felt bad, I had woken her up too early by my nightmares. But I knew I shouldn't say sorry. She would say its okay. Right?

"Anyways, would you want to do something after school?" Y/N asked, looking at me.

"We could go to a park?" I suggested nervously. I usually didn't choose things. "Or not, whatever you want to do." I said quieter.

"No, no! Let's go to a park! I haven't been to one in ages. Its a brilliant idea." She smiled. I smiled lightly back.

"Should I talk to your Teacher about those bullies?" Y/N said. Not to me in particular, she was thinking out loud.

I shook my head. I didn't want to cause trouble. The Teacher would call me parents and I'd be back to stage one.

"Why? You clearly aren't okay with it." Y/N frowned sadly.

"They'll call my parents." I said softly, almost as if the words scared me. Which they did, just in my head the words sounded more terrifying.

Y/N frowned, she clearly wanted to do something about it.

"Um, maybe you could walk me to my class and tell them not to?..." I suggested. Afraid to make her upset.

She nodded, "Thats a good idea. Hopefully they listen."

I sighed in relief.

We were just two broken souls trying to pick each other back up again.

"Anyways, did you have any homework?" Y/N asked. I shook my head, my Teacher disliked the whole "homework" idea. You learn at school not at home.

"Alright then, I stayed up late finishing mine. My maths Teacher insisted that we had like ten pages of practice." She sighed. "I still don't understand what we're learning."

I had finished my apple slices by then and I was wiping my hands with a napkin.

"Whats it like?" Y/N said suddenly. I tilted my head. What did she mean? "I mean, like being a werewolf. Is it cool?" She rephrased.

"Its okay I guess, your tail gives your emotions away, that part sucks. We can't have chocolate. Its like poison. We have similar traits to dogs." I explained, werewolf stuff was something I knew easily.

"Oh! And we have really cool fangs!" I smiled, showing my teeth. Y/N seemed amazed.

"We also can see in the dark, have better vision and can smell better!" I beamed. I felt my tail wag and ears perk. I didn't mind though.

Y/N smiled softly. "You're so happy," She said softly, if it weren't for my werewolf hearing I wouldn't of heard it.

Then her phone went off, which made me jump.

"Who even texts me? I have no contacts." She frowned.

She picked up her and phone and scanned it. The bright phone screen light hitting her face. She blinked.

She looked almost upset. She just set her phone down and looked frustrated.

I didn't want to pry. Prying got me nowhere in life.

"How about we start out morning and get ready for school, We have to be out of the apartment by seven." Y/N suggested. It wasn't even a question how she said it. It was so she could be alone for the next hour or so.
