Amelia woke up the next morning. "Good morning, Amelia." Jill greeted.
"Morning Jill." Amelia said.
"Did you sleep ok last night?" Jill asked. "Was the bed comfortable enough?"
"The bed was fine." Amelia answered. "Thank you for the concern." She opened her suitcase and looked for an outfit. She didn't have very much.
"You're welcome to borrow something of mine." Jill offered.
"Thank you, but I'm ok." Amelia said.
"Really, it's fine." Jill said. "I don't mind."
"Thank you." Amelia said. "Our trunk of clothes was lost on the boat."
"I'm sorry." Jill said. "Maybe we can take you and Emily shopping."
"Thank you." Amelia said.
"Here. Why don't you try this one." Jill said, handing her an outfit. "See if it fits."
Amelia took the outfit. It was a pink collared, button down dress with flowers on it. There was a belt with it too. She tried the dress on.
"It looks like it fits perfectly." Jill said.
"It does." Amelia said. "Thank you."
"You're welcome." Jill said.
Amelia did her hair in simple hairstyle and put comfortable shoes.
When she finished getting ready, Amelia followed Jill downstairs to the kitchen.
"Good morning girls." Helen greeted.
"Morning Mom." Jill said as she and Amelia sat at the table. Ricky was already there.
"Where's Emily?" Amelia asked.
"I think she and Molly are still getting ready." Helen said. "They should be down soon." Amelia nodded. The two girls came down a few minutes later.
"This is really good, Mrs. McIntyre." Amelia said as they ate breakfast.
"Thank you, Amelia." Helen said.
After eating, the kids got ready for school. They were all getting ready to leave.
"Can you walk me to school?" Emily asked her sister.
"Do you mind?" Amelia asked, looking at Jill.
"Not at all." Jill said. "We should get going, though."
"Have a good day at school." Helen said.
All the kids walked out of the house and headed down the sidewalk. After a little bit, they arrived at the elementary school and middle school.
"Mia." Emily said, clinging onto Amelia.
"Hey, it's ok." Amelia said as gently pulled Emily off of her.
"I'm scared." Emily said.
"It'll be ok." Amelia assured her. "You'll have a great day and at the end of the day, I'll be here to walk you back to the house."
Emily clung to her sister again. Amelia hugged her sister and kissed her on the top of the head. "Em, you have go inside." Amelia said as pulled her sister away, again. "I'll see you later." Emily nodded before following Molly.
Amelia watched as her sister walked into the school. "I really hope she's ok today." Amelia said as she and Jill headed to the high school.
"She will." Jill said. "Molly will look out for her." Amelia nodded. "You really care about her." Jill said.
"With everything we've been through, all we have is each other." Amelia said. "Since our mother died and our father serving, I've done everything I can to do my best to take care of her."
"You're a really great sister." Jill said. "Emily's lucky to have you."
"Thank you." Amelia said.
"So, I think my Mom worked it out with the school that you're in all of my classes." Jill said. "And I can show you where your locker is."
"Alright." Amelia said.
Later that day, Amelia was following behind Jill in the cafeteria. She was looking down when she ran into someone.
"I'm sorry. I wasn't looking where I was going." Amelia as she looked up. She saw the most handsome guy she has ever seen. He had brown hair and bright blue eyes.
"No. The apology is all mine." The guy said. "You're Amelia Bennett, right?" The guy asked. Amelia nodded. "Well, I'll see you around, Miss Amelia Bennett." The guy said, smiling.
Amelia had to keep herself from blushing. She nodded before walking off.
"Oh my gosh." Jill said as Amelia sat down.
"Who is he?" Amelia asked.
"That's Thomas Miller." Jill said. "He's a junior."
"I think he fancies you." Anne, one of Jill's friends, said.
"It's my first day." Amelia said. "He doesn't even know me."
"He probably wants to get to know you." Doreen, another of Jill's friends, said.
"I must admit, he is pretty cute." Amelia said. The other three girls giggled.
After school, Amelia and Jill walked towards the elementary and middle school.
"Mia!" Emily exclaimed, running over to Amelia.
"Hey Em." Amelia greeted. "So, how was it?"
"I enjoyed it." Emily said as they all headed back to the house.
"See. I told you it would be ok." Amelia said.
"I thought school here would be a lot different from school at home." Emily started. "But, it's not so different."
"Yeah." Amelia said.
A few minutes later, they arrived at the house. Mrs. McIntyre was there.
"I made a snack, if any of you want any." She said. They all sat at the table. "Emily. Amelia." Helen started. "How was your guys first day?"
"It was good for both of us." Amelia answered.
"That's great." Helen said.
After they finished eating, Amelia worked on homework.
