A Month Later

Things have been going not so smoothly

The child continues to come and go for days

I used to play my violin to pass the time

Unfortunately, some of the strings snapped.

Even more unfortunate, I have don't have enough money to replace the strings

Ever since I left the palace a month ago, I've just been wandering the lands.

I don't know what I'm looking for anymore.

I don't know what I want to move onto.

Was all that wandering worth it if I destroyed the other thing I loved?

Perhaps I wasn't giving this "moving on" thing my all.

I should leave it all behind.

Yeah, that sounds about right.

I put the violin down and walked down the rocky road.

---------------

"Wait, mister!"  a child yelled out to me.

I stopped in my tracks and turned around.

"Take me with you."

I squat down to their level.

"And why should I do that?" I asked them.

"I have nowhere to go," the child shyly replied.

I paused and thought about it.

"Seems like we both have something in common," I said. I held my hand for the child to take it.

The kid did and we continued down the rocky road.

How peculiar
