A sigh left out a man's nose as the phone attached to his ear. He slumped himself on the chair at the dining table while staring at the pink, silky cloth that covered a big two-layered containers filled with cabbage and radish Kimchis.
Finally, he took away the phone and put it down on the table. This was the seventh call he had made to his cousin, Jeon Jungkook. The call was all the way from Daegu, just wanting to tell him he would visit Jungkook in Seoul.
"Yoongi-yah." The mentioned man looked up from his phone and saw a middle-aged lady came out of the kitchen. "Has Jungkook answered?"
Yoongi shook his head.
"Go to Seoul. I'll give you money," Yoongi's mother said. She then directed her way into the living room.
"Eomma," Yoongi called and his mother turned around. "Can we send it next time? It might be exam season there."
"That is why I want you to visit him. Give him the kimchi. He'll have something to eat, at least. Busy people always forget to eat."
Yoongi, the youngest child of the family, mumbled and subconsciously pouted, "I'm busy too, but I still remember what is rice."
It relieved Yoongi that his mother didn't hear him. He wished he could come out as a savage remark for his mother, but he knew he was going to get a smack on the back or on the head if he did.
Without complaining, he rode KTX to Seoul from Daegu.
The ride was quiet and quite lonely, to be honest. He only had the covered containers as his company, and it's not like they could speak. It would be ironic of him if he spoke with them or even with the kimchi. He had friends, but most of them were busy with their own lives and rarely planned gatherings.
That loneliness was unbearable that he attempted another call to Jungkook. He waited long for an answer but only a long double beeps were the only sound that he had been hearing. He stopped the call and gave up, telling himself that he's visiting his cousin and thought it wouldn't be a big deal to appear like a surprise even though he was bad at doing surprises.
In less than two hours, he arrived at another station in Seoul. He stepped out of the train with the heavy containers in his grip, making his way out of the place. He hailed a taxi after that and told the driver the destination he wanted to stop.
The journey felt long because of the sudden lethargy that circulating in his system. Feeling sleepy but he tried to keep his slanted eyes wide. He thought he must get road sick or something.
He had been staring outside until he realised the taxi stopped. His response was slow, looking at the driver and then the screen in the middle. He took out his money, passed the driver the fare as he slid himself out, and thanked the taxi driver.
Yoongi hopped off and shut the door, still gripping the cloth that clad the kimchis' containers. He went past the guard post as he bowed at the security guard. The security guard knew him and bowed back, let him entered and saying nothing.
He rode an elevator to reach the level where his cousin's dorm was located. He went out of the elevator and turned himself, directing to the place. However, his paces stopped when he saw scattered papers on the square-tiled floor.
He looked around to see if anybody was around. But he heard only soft wind that blew across and muffled noises from the busy road. He trudged towards the messy ground and knelt down to pick up the papers.
Jimin's name was on the papers. Yoongi's eyebrows furrowed. He didn't want to assume the possibility that could happen, so he went in the room and called out in his usual drunk and uninterested intonation, "Jungkook-ah. It's your Yoongi hyung here."
