"i'm in love with you, jade." luke confessed through the phone, knowing that the girl wouldn't hear his words because of the deep sleep that washed over her.
but she heard, and those five words were enough for her to press the red button on her touchscreen, effectively ending the call.
a beep could be heard from luke's phone, long and taunting. almost as if it were ridiculing him for his words and shoving it in his face that his love for the girl was not reciprocated.
his eyes widened as he realized that jade had hung up on him, and therefore heard his confession,
"fuck."
