You may have encountered different types of teenagers. Maybe mostly those who smoke, drink beer or wine, or maybe even do drugs. I am not one of them, okay? Not all teenagers are like those. With the life I have now, you would think “why doesn’t she rebel? Or totally give up on life and who she is?” knowing that I live two different lives which tear me apart each day. Why don’t I do drugs? Why don’t I smoke? Why don’t I come home late? Why don’t I go against what my parents want despite all the pressure? Why don’t I commit suicide to end all the pressure? Too many questions, right? I only have ONE answer – Jesus.

Keeping up with the faith and being a pastor’s kid, I have faced different trials and emotions.  Many people don’t know this. They don’t know the joy of being a Christian – especially the joy of being a Christian teenager. I have been compared with other teenagers. They ask me why I am different and I already know the answer – I have Jesus. I mean, everyone has Jesus – it’s their relationship with Him that is missing. So if you are a teenager, a parent, and even a teacher, I encourage you to have a relationship with Christ. I encourage you not to rebel or even hurt yourself. Don’t! I may not be perfect but I can say that every day in small ways, Jesus changes me bit by bit. I love Him more and I grow spiritually. I am protected in everything I do or everywhere I go. My life’s peaceful. Plans go according to His Will. I am loved and complete. I know that deep down. Even though I am trapped between two worlds, I live one life. I have one purpose and that is to live for Jesus.

Someday I’ll only live in one world. I’ll be living with my Best Friend for eternity. I know and I am assured of that. If you want to have a life with Jesus, you just have to accept Him with all of your heart. Trust me, He’ll protect and provide you with everything. He’ll never leave you no matter what happens. Life is a choice. You can either choose to make Jesus your Best Friend, or not. It’s as simple as that.

Sincerely,

A Teenager like you
