Third-person pov:
Disgust had eventually found Joy and the others, leaving Anger alone after their "encounter." Disgust didn't know what else to do, his best friend since birth had just kissed him...and he liked it. Disgust was sure of the hatred he had for Anger, but in that heated moment, it had all disappeared, dissolving through his fingers. And when he had come running up into Joy's arms, sobbing with a stutter, shaking with confusion, he let it all happen. Every last cry, he let out and into Joy, who just cradled his friend, unsure of what pain his friend was in, but knowing he needed to be there.
Joy took the three of them to a bench, letting Sadness and Fear take one side whilst he and Disgust took the other, Joy silenced his friend, rubbing a hand up and down his back while letting Disgust rest of his shoulder, sobbing out with sniffles.
Joy's pov:
"Disgust, buddy, what happened? Are you alright?" I kept a hand on his back, my other resting on my knee. He ran to me, tears flailing down his face, and when he crashed into me, I could feel the shakes coming from him. I didn't want to push him into telling me, but with how distraught he is, I need to know. "I- I don't want to talk about it. Can we go home now?"
"I- of course. You're upset." I was the first to stand then helped Disgust up, keeping an arm around his shoulder while we walked our way to the car, Fear and Sadness sauntering close behind.
I could gather from afar that Anger was leaned against the back of the car, pulling at the roots of his hair while sobbing. Once he caught onto us reaching the car he was quick to wipe the tears from his eyes and take his seat in the back of the car. I would for sure need to have a talk with him too

The ride home was quiet, the tension between Anger and Disgust obvious and pent up. Even when we got home, they both scurried off to their rooms, one door slamming shut with rage and the other quietly, politely.
I got Fear and Sadness sat down on the couch, a show playing on the tv as I walked away and to Anger's room first.
I wanted to open the door, knock even yet I couldn't. The resentment seeping from the door fired the wood, the handle feeling dangerous to touch. Anger becomes unpredictable when at his worst and I sure don't want to encourage him further so I only gave the door a couple of quiet knocks then backed up, not wanting to be in his range of anger.
I waited patiently, hands at my side as I listened to Anger on the other side of the door, messing with the locks shutting him in before pulling the door open and stepping to the side, letting me walk in before closing the door back.
I sat down on his bed, one leg over the other as I sat quietly watching him pace back and forth, nails scratching at the roots of his head. "Anger bud, wanna tell me what happened? You're upset and Disgust won't look at me, he won't look at anyone." I patted the space beside me, hoping to ease him in, which seemed to work as I watched him take the spot next to me. "I- Joy, you won't get mad right?" His eyes searched my own, looking for some hint of anger. "Of course not, I am Joy after all. Tell me okay." I gifted him a sweet smile, patting his knee.
"Alright, okay. Here it goes." Anger took in a deep breath. "I kissed Disgust. I like him, Joy, so much. I always have. But I- it freaked him out I guess. He flipped out on me and ran off." His head now on my shoulder, Anger sobbed, the first time I have truly witnessed him show any other emotion besides rage. The fabric of my shoulder soaked up the tears, dyed by his warm sobs. "Oh Anger, " I brought him in for a hug, letting my hand stay on his back, "He doens't hate you. I should know, he tells me everything."
Anger quickly pushed out of the hug, eyes stung red and blistering with wet tears. "He what? How do you know?" He stood, urging me up as well. "It's not my place to tell you Anger, ask Disgust later today but right now, try and get some rest, you must be exhausted. Okay?" I tossed a hand onto his shoulder, turning him back in the direction of the bed and nudging him onto the mattress. "Yeah, I guess I could use some rest..." Off went his shoes and he was under the covers, snuggled up close to his pillows. I smiled, turning on my heels to walk for the door, hand on the knob as Anger spoke. "Joy- thank you." I turned with one last smile, "You're welcome buddy, " and left.
Disgust's room was three doors down and I stood in front of it in no time, knocking just as I had done with Anger's until Disgust figited with the handle, barely prying open the door, sighing when he saw me, he finished opening the door and let me in, closing it behind him. I walked in, taking a seat at his desk chair and waited, giving him the room to speak first. "I assume you've spoken with Anger already?" His shuddering tone spit out, tear-stained cheeks shimmering underneath the reflection of the lights. "Yes. Disgust why- the way you acted, why? You told me you lik- "
"Yes I did tell you that, but Anger doesn't need to know that yet. He hates everyTHING and everyONE, including me Joy." I carefully listened, making sure to observe it correctly before speaking. " No Disgust, you need to talk with him later, he doesn't hate you and you don't hate him. He believes you do though so fix it. I love you both and deeply despise seeing you hurt." I stood, walking to Disgust to give him a hug before pulling back." Like I told Anger, try getting some rest. We can worry about this all tomorrow. We've had an exhausting day and I've got to get Sadness and Fear to bed aswell."
I walked off, bellowing a goodnight as I opened the door. " I don't hate him, I'm glad he did what he did but I was just scared. Confused on what was actually happening Joy." He paused, turning to me. "But anyway, goodnight Joy." "Goodnight Disgust."
I made my way back downstairs, catching glimpse of Fear and Sadness, Sadness now passed out on Fear's shoulder and Fear passed out with his head rested against the back of the couch. I walked to the two, carefully waking them both. "Hey, why don't you two head to your rooms? Sleep in your comfortable beds instead of on this rock of a couch." I gave a soft chuckle, helping both up and watching them head upstairs and to their individual rooms, each saying goodnight before closing their doors.
I gave once last round around the house, making sure no unnessecary lights were left on, all doors and windows were shut and locked then headed up to my own room right after checking on the others, all snuggled up in their beds and fast asleep, I could finally pass out. I threw my shirt off and changed into sweatpants, climbing into my sheets and drifting off minutes later.
