Contagion

Chapter 3: Too Late

Lifeless black eyes... Henry's father had lifeless black eyes. Matthew screamed, "Henry, get away from him!"
Henry backed up, but it was too late, his father had grabbed his arm and bit Henry. Henry gasped out of pain, and then stabbed the piece of metal through his father's head. Matthew ran to Henry, and held him. Matthew started crying. He didn't know what to do.

Henry said something, but Matthew didn't hear him, so he stopped crying. "What was it Henry?" He said softly, but sadly.
"It's ok Matthew, this is how it was meant to be. Can't you see? My mom is gone. My dad is gone. And now I'm going to be gone. But I will be with them. This was how it's meant to be." Henry said with a smile on his face. Matthew just starting bawling his eyes out.
"Henry, please don't leave me, Henry!" Matthew cried.
"We must hurry." Henry replied as he picked up the pistol.
Matthew yelled,"Wait, no! What are you doing?" Matthew tried to grab the pistol from Henry's hand, but it was too late. Henry had shot himself in the head.

Matthew sat there crying. He sat there crying for a while, but then he realized he needs to leave and find his own father. He grabbed the pistol out of Henry's hand and left the building. Matthew lived in Loveland for his whole life, so he new the town like the back of his hand. He knew exactly where his house was, so he started heading there. As he was walking home, he stumbled upon a Cannibal. It saw Matthew immediately and started sprinting at him. Matthew had not used a pistol before, so he wasn't sure how to use one. He did see Henry use it, so he followed what Henry did. His first shot missed completely. The second one hit the Cannibal in the arm but it kept running at Matthew. Matthew started backing up as the Cannibal got closer, but he tripped and fall backwards. The Cannibal jumped on top of Matthew and was just about to bite him, when Matthew pulled out the metal piece and stabbed it into the Cannibal's eye.
Matthew got up and left the metal in the Cannibal. He was shocked from what just happened, but he kept on his way. When he reached home, he ran to the door to go find his father, but the door was locked. He tried kicking down the door, but that wasn't working, so he went to one of the windows, and it was unlocked. Matthew climbed through the window and got inside his house. He shut the window behind him so nothing could get in. He walked upstairs to his father's bedroom, to find a dead body on the bed and a Cannibal eating the body. Matthew pulled out the gun and shot before the Cannibal even knew Matthew was there. The bullet hit the Cannibal right in the side of the head. He ran up to the dead body crying. He thought he was going to have to shoot his own father just like Henry had to. But when he saw the face of the dead body, it was a woman. She must've taken shelter inside his house to escape from the Cannibal, but the Cannibal ended up getting her anyway. Matthew knew he wasn't good with the pistol, so he went to his dad's closet to get his bow. As he was grabbing his bow, he noticed that his dad's bow was missing. Maybe his dad had gotten out safely? Who knows, but Matthew was determined to find his father.
