Chapter 9: Friend or Foe

Matthew ran to go pick up Bleue, he wasn't worried about the boy in the attic because Bleue was gushing blood out of her head. But then the boy that had just bashed the lamp into Bleue's head had jumped down the ladder with a bandage wrap in his hand and started to wrap Bleue's head.
"Okay, first you bash her head in with a lamp, and then you start wrapping it with a bandage? What the hell? Who are you?" Matthew asked.
"My names Jay. I'm terribly sorry, I thought she was one of those things, I've been attacked by them before." The boy said.
"One of those things? You mean the Cannibals? Whatever, how long have you been up there?" Matthew questioned.
"My mother became on of those "Cannibals" as you call it, she was bitten. My dad left to go get supplies for him and I a few days ago, but he never returned..." Jay said as a tear rolled down his cheek.
"Oh, I'm terribly sorry. It's ok though, you can stay with us from here on out." Matthew had replied.
"I'd love to, but I'm not going anywhere until I know where my dad is. What if he comes back and I'm gone with you guys?" Jay said anxiously.
"Here, I'll go look for you're dad, but I need you to tend to Bleue, keep her safe. Where did your dad go?" Matthew replied.
"He said he was going to the general store to check for some food cause we are running low." Jay stated.
"Ok, I'll go look for him, and I'll try and get some more supplies too." Matthew said as he started heading towards the door.
"Thank you!" Jay shout.
"Yup." Matthew mumbled.

Matthew encountered a few Cannibals along his way to the general store, but it was nothing too much that he couldn't handle with his trusty knife. Once Matthew had arrived at the general store, he could tell that the building was full of food. He saw food all through the windows. He ran inside and started stuffing his backpack with all sorts of canned goods. He also got a lot of water bottles. But one thing strange was that there was a long line of blood smothered across the floor, and a fallen over shelf. Then he saw a mans stuck under the fallen over shelf, his legs were stuck and one of them had the bone extending out of his knee. The shelf must have fallen pretty hard to do that. Jay's father had seen Matthew,"Help." Jay's father mumbled. Matthew tried to lift the shelf, but it was too heavy. Then Matthew grabbed a hold of Jay's father's hand and tried pulling him out, but Jay's father's bone that was coming out of his knee cap had gotten caught on the shelf and had snapped even further, causing him to scream out of pain. It's was so loud that it started attracting Cannibals from all over. They started flooding into the store and Matthew didn't know what to do, we he stabbed Jay's father in the forehead to make it quick. The Cannibals went after Jay's father and Matthew slipped out the back door, but he was stopped by a voice,"Stop right there!" The voice exclaimed. Matthew stopped and put his hands up. "Drop your weapons!" The voice yelled. So Matthew dropped his weapons, except for his knife which was hidden in his pocket. The voice was coming from a man, and the man walked up behind Matthew and threw a bag over his head. Matthew immediately reached for his knife, but was stopped by a swift punch to his temple. Matthew was knocked out, unconscious.

Matthew woke up later in the back of a truck, a man had sat him up and pulled the bag of his head,"Welcome to Wells." The man said.
