If She Disappeared

Missing

She just stared out the window at the stars. She smiled softly and her eyes were filled with awe. We went snow tubing for zyp today and we were at the gas station while the vehicles filled up. The car she was in was across from mine.
The rest of my car were jamming out to the radio. It was fun and soon I joined as we danced in our seats shouting the lyrics. Just like last year. When we got on the road again.
We arrived and hurried to get the pass we needed. After Mike and Sarah explained what the rules were we divided into groups going up the hill.

After we took another picture like last year. When the silly one came everyone in the back just fell on the front row.

I woke up getting ready for school. I left walking to the school. I saw Rain coming but no Kayla. Figuring she's just sick I went and talked with Brad. I looked around hopping she was just late.

"Dude who are ya looking for." He said.

"Kayla."

"Who's Kayla she sounds hot."

"Ya know the one I was staring at yesterday."

"You were staring at Victoria yesterday."

"She's a slut why would I be staring at her?"

"She is your girlfriend remember?"

"What I don't have a girlfriend."

"Yes you do ask anyone."

I sighed and looked around and spotted Mia. I walked over to her tapping her shoulder.

"Where is Kayla?" I said.

"Oh good I'm not the only one. All the girls think I'm crazy saying there is no Kayla." She said.

"Why are we the only ones who remember her?"

"I don't know." She said then the bells rang I sighed going to homeroom.

At lunch I pulled Mia away. We went out to the soccer field.

"This is driving me insane. Everyone is saying I played good at the game yesterday." I said.

"What there was only basketball yesterday and you quite?"

"Anything weird for you or just me."

"Everyone asks when we can hang out. Then Victoria just was talking to me like we where friends this whole year." She said.

"Well what happened to Kayla. The office has no records and nobody knows who she is. What is going on." I said sitting on the bleachers putting my hands over my face.

I went to my grandparents house and saw my grandpa sitting in his chair.

"Hey where's grandma." I said.

"She did two years ago remember. She fell off the roof." He said harshly.

-2 years ago-

I go to my grandparents house. I saw someone on the roof and ran out back to see Kayla sitting with my grandma cleaning out the gutter. Grandma slipped a bit and Kayla caught her.
"Why don't you go down I got this." Kayla said helping her over to the ladder so she wouldn't fall again.

I sighed and sat on the couch watching the soccer match with him. All that was on my mind was that Kayla was gone.

I got a call and saw Mia. I answered it while going out on the back patio.

"Hey Nathaniel we got to figure this out quick."

"Why?"

"We are losing memories by the hour."

"How do you know?"

"I was looking through some pictures and she fadded. Like as we remember something it leaves from our memories."

"What!? No we can't. We have to solve this quickly then." I said hurrying home. "By Grandpa." I said while leaving.

"Wait where are you we need to meet up." She said.

"By my grandparents house. And next to Kayla's house." I said.

"Okay see ya in five minutes tops." She said.
