Recap: Liss, Jay, Moose, Vic, Corey & Nadine go to the City to meet with the Council. Corey knows somebody on the Council that'll listen to what they've got to say. Corey's aquaintance turns out to be an oldtime friend of Moose's: Tristan!

Lissa's POV:

"What is she doing here?" an old man scowls at me. "And him?"

"There's been a mistake with the Prophecy, Septimus," Tristan says. He's been trying to get us in to the Council building for the past half hour but nobody is pleased to see me or Corey. Which is honestly fair enough.

"The Prophecy is never wrong," Septimus says harshly. "There's been a direct ban about the likes of him and her entering the City,"

"Unless there's a good reason," Moose argues.

"You don't get a say in this, Michael," Septimus snaps. "Dark Creature,"

"Discrimination about powers is not okay," Tristan says angrily. "It's one of the first rules of the Council,"

"I am in charge of the Council," Septimus raises his voice.

"For now," Tristan says coolly. "Elections are coming up,"

"What's going on?" I whisper to Corey.

"There are the eleven Council members and then one of them is elected head of the Council. Unfortunately, Septimus got the vote four years ago but it'll hopefully change when the elections in summer come along," Corey murmurs. "Septimus, like many others of his age, are very discriminative,"

"Oh," is all I'm able to see. Weirdly, I'm not even slightly angry about not being allowed into the Council meeting. I am still part of the Evil side, even though I can feel it slowly going away.

"And do you have a good reason to be here? I highly doubt it," Septimus sneers. "The only things a bunch of Evils like yourselves want is power and destruction,"

"Power would certainly be nice," Corey smirks.

"You see what I mean?" Septimus roars. "I'm calling the Guards!"

"This is bullshit," Jay sighs.

Two people stride into the room we're in. One of them is Arabelle and the second is a willowy woman with piercing jade green eyes.

"Septimus, do calm down. You'll give yourself a heart attack," the woman rolls her eyes. "Please excuse him. He hasn't been feeling well lately,"

"We'll bring you into the Council meeting and we'll hold a vote on whether you two are allowed to stay," Arabelle tells us. "If we vote that you two can stay, then all's well. However, if we vote that we don't want you there, you'll have to remain in the prison's until the meeting is over,"

"That's ridiculous!" Corey says angrily. "There's been a truce. I'm not going to go about breaking it!"

"Please follow us into the meeting room," Arabelle ignores him.

We're brought into a big room with a long table in the middle of it. There are already several people seated on the chairs but it looks like more than eleven people are here.

"So they've even brought in the Under-Members," Corey lets out an impressed whistle. "We must be worth a lot,"

They all start whispering at the sight of me and Corey.

"Silence! The Council will now vote on whether we want Miss Vasilisa Smith and and Mr. Corey Mayhound to remain here for the meeting," Septimus takes his seat. "Michael, Jason, girl-with-green-eyes, please have a seat. Someone move over and make room for Nadine in wheelchair,"
