Chapter Two: Disneyland...?

When I finally woke up, I was sore everywhere. It felt kind of like the first time I tried the high jump diving board at the YMCA...and ended up belly flopping. Only everywhere, not just on one side of my body. With a groan, I squinted my eyes open.

The first thing I noticed was that i was in a fancy looking room. It was high ceilinged with intricate designs on the ceiling - and the whole place was furnished like it was the President's house. Only...some of the decorations hanging around looked like they were from Africa or something. A bit strange.

But who am I to talk about strange? I mean, I got here by...how did I get here again? I couldn't remember. My mind was pretty fuzzy as to how I got to this room. The only thing I remember was my family and I were going to Disneyland and then something about car trouble, I blacked out, woke up again and heard someone talk about a guy named Scrooge, and then I blacked out again. Not much for me to go on.

"Wow." I said, sitting up. Maybe we'd arrived in Disneyland already. I mean, the room was fancy enough. The bed I was in had a canopy, for pete's sake - how much fancier could you get? I couldn't help but take in the other sights surrounding me. There was a fancy chair covered with velvet pillows, a wardrobe that had...giant ducks in kilts carved into it (very Disney). "This must have cost a fortune..."

Suddenly I heard voices coming towards my door. I wondered who it was...and then realized it must be my parents, and this must be Disneyland. I mean, I woke up in a huge, fancy room with no memory - which means I must have passed out from excitement when we got to Disneyland and banged my head. Thus knocking myself out and giving myself temporary amnesia. Meanwhile everyone else decided to let me sleep in while they went on the rides. It made perfect sense.

This, of course, made me feel a bit resentful. What right did they have to go to Disneyland and ride all the rides without me? I mean, yes, I know I'd been griping about the air conditioner breaking and I'll admit I was being a little more bossy of Mandie than usual - but this was Disneyland, for crying out loud! They couldn't leave me behind.

So I thought of the perfect plan. I would surprise everyone when they came inside. I'd pretend I was asleep, and when they came to check in on me and see if I was awake, I would jump up and yell: "Surprise!" Or maybe "You should've taken me with you!" Ah, I'd think of something in the moment.

Quickly, I lay back down on the bed, and pulled cover's up. Then I closed my eyes and pretended to sleep, all they while my ears listened intently to the noises approaching the door. The closer they got, the more easily I could hear their voices.

"I can't wait to show Micha this place!!" Mandie's voice exclaimed. Then I heard someone with an elderly, male voice chuckle. Apparently he had a Scottish accent to. I could tell, because he replied with:

"I cannae imagine anyone who wouldn't be excited to be here."

"I hope she's awake," Mandie said, opening up the door. I froze, no longer so sure of my plan. The guy who'd spoken sounded...a little familiar. But not anyone I remembered meeting. The door opened wider, and I heard footsteps and a cane. "She's still asleep?!"

"Yer sister did fall quite a ways," The dude with a Scottish accent said. "Perhaps ye should let her sleep in..."

That hit a nerve. Yes, I didn't know who this Scottish accented guy was - but I was not going to miss out on Disneyland. No siree - I'd spent, I don't even know how many weeks in a car without air conditioning to get here - and I was not passing up a chance to see it now.

"Not so fast!!" I exclaimed, tossing up the blanket and hopping out of bed. Not my best idea - because my head started pounding and my legs nearly gave out. But I pushed through that. I was going to visit Disneyland. Nothing could stop me. "I was awake all along and now -"
