A feeling of dread washed over me as we exited the burning building and descended down the staircase from the balcony.

"Common my car is just over here," he says but I plant my feet to the ground not budging from his pull.

He sends a me a look of annoyance at my rebellion. "Now what did I say earlier? Have we forgotten so quickly.."

"Just leave me be Joaquin..." I say with very little power in my voice.

He then walks closer to me and moves his face only inches from my own. "Now, it can either be the three of us getting in that car..or" he pauses as he takes out a knife and presses it against my stomach. "The two of us. You choose Calina."

I take a huge gulp as I lower my head in defeat and slack my arms.

"Good," he grunts and yanks me forward. He opens the front passenger side door for me to get in, but before I could get in the car a voice behind us stalls me.

"Stop. Right. There." A powerful voice says. I swing my head around as my heart speeds up in my chest.

"Gio," I exhale softly.

Gio was standing there pointing a gun right at Joaquin. And he looked severely pissed off. I look behind him and see Mason standing just a few feet away holding his torso as he was leaning against the railing.

He's okay.

I let a sigh of relief escape from my lips knowing that he was fine. He was still pretty beat up but at least he was alive.

"Hmmm? What do we have here? Another American?" Joaquin questions amusingly as he cocked his head to the side while he gripped my wrist tighter.

"Why don't you let the girl go? And I won't kill you," Gio says with a calm voice but his face was showing another story. His eyebrows were furrowed while he clenched his jaw.

Joaquín scoffs before yanking me in front of his chest right in view of where he has his gun pointed. "No, I don't think so. She belongs to me now and if I can't have her then no one can. So, you either let us leave together or...?" He takes his knife and puts it around my neck. "Or I kill here right now."

My eyes widen In fear. Not for myself but for our baby.

Giovanni Pov

"Or I kill her here and now." He says as he aims the knife at her throat.

Fuck. This bastard is out of my view and I could hurt Calina in the process.

Calina's looks at me with frightened eyes. I tried to send her a look of reassurance but it didn't seem to help.

"So, what's it going to be American?"

Suddenly, he yells out in pain and I notice that Calina stepped down hard on his foot with her heal. She then tried to bolt toward me as he looses his grip on her. I take this time to cock my gun as I aim for a good shot

"Pendeja!" He yells as he tries to come after her.

"Calina get down!" I yell as I squint my eyes.

As soon as she ducks I fire my gun and hit him right between the eyes. One moment he was motionless and the next he was face down on the ground as blood poured out from his head.

"Calina?" I question as I slowly walk to her. Her attention was on his lifeless body next to her.

"He-he's" she stutters. I place my hands on her trembling shoulders to calm her which seemed to help a bit because her breathing slowed down some.

"Yes, he's gone, he can't hurt you anymore," I whisper softly.

She then roughly pulls me in her embrace as she tightly clings to me as if she was a small child. I cannot deny that I feel a sense of wholeness holding her in my arms.

"You're safe now. And I'll never let you go." I vow softly in her ear.

"Hey guys, I hate to break up the reunion...well never mind I don't give a shit, but I think we should get out of here before anyone sees us," Mason says, his voice laced with tight annoyance at our display of affection.

I almost wanted to snap back at him but he was right. We needed to get out of here before someone spots us.

"Okay, Mason check his pockets for the keys. We are going to take this car." I say before swooping up calina bridal style and holding her close.

I hear a beep from the car telling me that Mason found the keys. I open the back door and gently place her down as if she were a porcelain doll.

I was about to get in front when a pair of hands clung to my shirt.

"Please don't leave me," she says with puppy dog eyes. Her face was wet with fresh tears that I couldn't help but wipe away with my thumbs.

"I'll be right back I just need to talk to Mason for a second," I say before giving her a quick kiss on the cheek.

That seems to assure her as I slowly dip out of the car.

"Where can we go? It will take hours just to get to the airport and who knows if they won't catch up to us. We have no back up right now," Mason says as he presses his two fingers to his temples.

I sigh. "Let me think...why don't we just lay low for a couple of days. Find a place to hide until everything cools down." I say as the idea pops in my head.

He scoffs. "Like where? Your villa here? Who's to say the cartel don't already know who we are?"

I groan in annoyance.

"What about a hotel?"

He laughs bitterly. "Are you stupid?! He owns all the hotels here. He's the cartel,"

This snob remark makes me boil over.

"What the fuck do you want from me?! We need to find a safe place for her! We are out of options. We need-"

"Gio.." I hear a soft voice sound from behind me.

I swivel my head around to look at my poor Angel who looks up at me innocently. I stay quiet and wait for her to continue

She licks her lips before continuing."I think I know of a place we can go..."
