"Mabel please?" Dipper begged Mabel not to make him do what he was about to do.
"It'll be good for you bro-bro! What's the worst that can happen?"
"I die." He replied, it may seem like an over exaggeration, but it's happened many times before in this situation.
"I know for a fact this guy won't kill you, we were really close in high school." Mabel yelled from Dippers closet, picking out an outfit for him.
"Mabel that was over 2 years ago! Have you even talked to him since then?"
"Of course I have! I talked to him last week when I was setting up the date." She replied, coming out of the closet (hehe) with two pairs of skinny jeans, 3 shirts and one red flannel.
"Mabel you know dating isn't my thing, especially blind dates." Dipper whined, recalling a specific memory.
"That's how you and Bill met." Mabel replied, slightly regretting it after seeing the face Dipper had given her.
"Yeah and look what happened there." Dipper said, grabbing random articles of clothing to make an outfit.
"You guys dated for 3 years, proof that blind dates work!" Mabel exclaimed, replacing the blue shirt Dipper had grabbed for a white one and the black jeans for a lighter blue.
"And then he moved away and everything ended." Dipper took the clothes and headed for the bathroom to change.
"It only ended because of distance! The date had nothing to do with it!" Mabel yelled through the door "Just give today a chance Dipper. Who knows, maybe what you'll find is better than what you had!" She tried.
"No one is better than Bill though..." He mumbled quietly, thankful Mabel didn't hear it.
Although they had broken up over a year ago Dipper still wasn't fully over it. He went on dates every now and again but none were as amazing as his first one with Bill, and then every one after that.
Bill had gotten an scholarship at some college in Massachusetts, they tried the long distance for a year but each day it got harder and harder until they realized it just wasn't going to work.
Dipper was sure Bill was doing perfectly fine, based on his instagram and Snapchat he's popular and is having the best time of his life now that he's not tied down to one person. Dipper swore if he ever saw Bill again he'd ignore him as much as possible, if he didn't he'd fall again and he obviously couldn't have that happening.
Dipper pushed the thoughts of Bill away as he exited the bathroom, seeing a puppy-dog-eyed Mabel in front of the door.
"I'll go on the stupid date." Dipper muttered, rolling his eyes as he clearly wasn't happy about it. "But I'm not gonna try." He added, Mabels smile faded slightly before returning to her usual ear to ear grin.
"For sure bro-bro! It'll be fun!" She ran to Dippers bed grabbing his shoes and handing them to him. "Now we gotta do something about that hair."
"I'll just wear my hat." Dipper replied reaching for it. Mabel slapped his hand away and grabbed a brush.
"No way am I letting you wear your hat to a date." Dipper only rolled his eyes but didn't bother arguing, there'd be no point in doing so. He'd lose.
Mabel began brushing through his hair, or trying to at least since it was so messy.
"So what's this guys name?" Dipper asked.
"You'll find out when you get there." Mabel replied, enjoying the annoyed look Dipper had.
"Well what's he like?"
"You'll find out when you get there." She repeated. Dipper groaned in annoyance.
"Can you tell me anything about him?" Dipper tried.
"Hmmm, nope! You'll find out when you get there." She laughed as she finished up Dippers hair. It still looked messy, but in a good way.
After Mabel deemed him ready both left Dippers room and Mabel walked him out the door to his car.
"You're meeting at Greasy's Diner and the reservation is under my name." She told him, standing outside of the car.
"Got it." Dipper mumbled, he still wasn't happy about the situation but knew there was no getting out of it.
"Oh and Dipper? Try to have fun." She gave a supportive smile before stepping away from the car so he could back out. Dipper nodded and waved goodbye, making his way to the diner, which also happened to be where he had his first date with Bill.

Time skip

Dipper arrived at the diner and was taken to his seat, which happened to be the exact same booth he sat in with Bill. He asked the waitress if he could sit somewhere else, but apparently Mabel had specifically chosen the booth and wouldn't allow a seat change. Perfect.
Sitting down Dipper became more and more nervous for the date, seeing as he'd probably just be thinking of Bill the entire time. What would they even talk about? When he met Bill the two immediately clicked, will it be like that with this new guy?
Dipper decided he didn't care if they didn't have a conversation as amazing as an average one with Bill, because Bill was gone, he wasn't coming back and even if he did Dipper swore he'd never get back with him, it would just cause too much pain again. Although he'd never really admit it, he cried for weeks after he and Bill ended things. Sure it was mutual, but that didn't make it hurt any less.
If he ever saw Bill again, he'd just ignore him, it'd be the right thing to do obviously. If he and Bill get back then there will just be another obstacle in their way and Dipper would just keep getting hurt. He didn't need that, and he didn't need Bill, he needed to forget about it and enjoy this date with this new (probably great) guy, who was actually running a few minutes late.
Just like Bill did.
Dipper thought back to that day, when he was waiting for at least 5 minutes for Bill to show up, it didn't seem like a lot of time, but in his head it was all just a prank on him or he had just been plain stood up. He remembered it being worth it though when Bill did show up, he brought Dipper a small dandelion he had picked outside seconds before and said what was probably the most cheesiest pick up line Dipper had ever heard.
Dipper quickly shook off the thoughts of Bill, again, and decided to just scroll through his phone to pass the time, if anything he should be glad if this kid doesn't show up, at least then he could go home.
