Chapter Thirty-Two

I can't believe Nova lived this long just waving at her neighbor and never even exchanged names.

"We inviting her for Thanksgiving and that is it" I told her firmly and watched her grumble.

No she doesn't hate her neighbor but she thinks it is better the way they are. No unecessary drama but I think that excuse is lame.

She sluggishly got up but eventually went to invite her neighbor whose name we don't know.

"The most shocking discovery ever, she is Karen Myers, legal wife of your brother Jayden" Nova said as she walked in, following behind is the said woman looking as innocent as ever.

I have never been this surprised, Jayden never told a soul about getting married until his death.

"Jayden had a wife?" I said more of a question that a statement.

"Had?" The two women asked, I never thought it was important telling Nova but I guess his wife should know.

"Yes, he was sentenced to death, he was in a drug gang and they killed people, innocent people that seemed to be threat to them, I never knew he got married".

All of our friends were present for thanks giving and they were all having fun but I could stop thinking of how badly Jayden had behaved before death.

Who marries a woman secretly and takes off with their child. Karen happens to have gone psycho but her case is mild, she waters her garden anytime she wants to think and takes her pills on a steady. My own brother did that to her.

I wonder how dad trained his real kids, mom is way better than he is and that is why I chose to forgive her but I can never forgive that man, not in this lifetime.

My aim is to be a better father to my unborn children and a better husband to my wife. If Lois can do it, I sure can and will.

Life is not a bed of roses and crazy things happen every day, not everyone will have a second chance like I did, so find you a woman who loves you and never derail.

I don't expect a happily ever after, there will always be a lot of Afters to our imperfect love but I pray for the strength to keep getting through it.

Remembering the Nova that told me to fuck off back in highschool, she happens to still be the same but more matured and I have learnt to love that crazy part of her.
