They walked down the pitch-black hallway in eerie silence, their footsteps on the floor the only sounds echoing through the hallway. At one point, the door behind them had swung shut, leaving them in total darkness. Not like that that had scared the living shit out of both of them. Noo, that totally didn't happen at all.

So now they had no light, and they were walking down an unfamiliar hallway that echoed every little noise that sounded, even their breathing, and kind of smelled like new car scent for some reason. Diesel was even half sure he felt something slimy and tentacle-like brush against his leg at one point. Ew.

To be honest he wouldn't be surprised if it was one of those toaster demon things. Those had been a common occurrence as of late. A very irritating and inconvenient occurrence.

After the longest five minutes of his life of just walking down the hallway (he had started counting at some point to pass the time), desil suddenly ran into something and furry that smelled strangely of mustard.

"ow! Watch it!" Elmo grumbled next to him

"what the hell did you stop for" diesel rubbed his nose, which had been rammed into Elmo's shoulder and now hurt like hell

"the hallway ends here. There's a door" he heard the rustle of fabric as Elmo moved his arm, presumably reaching for the doorknob

A click pierced the otherwise silent atmosphere as Elmo turned the door handle. He paused

"it's unlocked" he sounded strangely surprised as if he were expecting otherwise

He paused again and then opened the door wide enough to see the room beyond, but not wide enough for anything that might be on the other side to notice if they weren't looking. Light flooded the hallway, leaving both of them blinking with tears in their eyes as it assaulted their retinas.

After a moment, Elmo pressed the side of his face through the crack, looking through. He didn't say anything for a long moment.

"what do you see?" diesel said, his voice lowered to avoid possible detection

Elmo didn't say anything for a moment "there's... a room like the one we were just in. there's no doors in here either and... there seems to be a person standing in the middle of it. a person wearing black robes" his voice was also lowered, he spoke to diesel in barely a whisper.

"what? Let me see '' diesel pushed Elmo away from the door, the latter letting out a surprised squeak in protest. He pressed an eye to the door, looking through.

There was indeed a person standing in the middle of the room, cloaked in black robes. They were standing, facing away from the door. The more diesel stared the more unsettling it got. They didn't move at all. not even to breathe. They just stood there, staring.

That is until they turned around. The swish of fabric sounded as they practically spun to face the door. Diesel didn't get a view of their face, he was too busy ducking back behind the door, dragging Elmo, who was trying to look over his head, back with him.

Elmo pushed him away, looking like he was about to tell him off, but diesel shushed him.

"He knows we're here"

Elmo shut up after that.

They both crouched in the dark, staring at the sliver of light coming from the crack in the door in anticipation. Though they heard no footsteps, nor saw the hooded figure emerge from the room.

But he made his presence known in another way

"don't you two know it's rude to linger behind doors...? Come in!" the voice was deep and distorted, echoing around their minds like it was transmitted telepathically.

They looked at each other, each casting the other a nervous glance.

"do we uh... go in...?" Elmo's voice was barely a squeak, his British accent once again more pronounced in his distress. Desil shrugged. It wasn't really as if they had a choice. It was either continue and go through the door, or go back, which wasn't really an option.

Before they had the chance to decide, the door was flung open, sending the both of them flying backward and landing hard against the stone tiles. After the initial shock subsided, desil looked up. The figure was standing before them, robes flowing from some non-existent wind, and the way the light was cast about them from behind in a way that gave them an almost divine effect. It was very intimidating, to say the least.

They both stared at the figure in shock and more than a bit of fear. The figure stood there staring at them for a moment before stepping aside to stand next to the door, moving a had to politely gesture them inside as if they hadn't just unceremoniously shoved the door in both of their faces and made them fall on their asses on the painfully hard stone.

After a long moment of not moving, the figure sighed, its staticky voice echoing throughout their heads again. It reached out the hands it had that weren't still politely gesturing them inside (this confused desil as he was rasonably certain they only had two before) and offered them to them.

Diesel, still in somewhat of a shock-induced trance, took it and let them pull him to his feet. To the right of him, he saw Elmo do the same. They let the cloaked being (who once again had the right amount of hands) lead them into the room.

Once they were fully inside, the door once again slammed behind them. This made the both of them jump and look up at the cloaked figure with uncertainty.

...desil didn't like the way it was smiling at them.
