Darkness.
Pitch darkness. The deafening sound of white noise as the air pressure seemed to triple, pressing in on him. It was as if he were suspended in a void, unable to comprehend his surroundings.
And then reality kicked to life again
The first thing he heard was a piercing scream, biting through the white noise like a knife through cheese.
Mmm. cheese.
what he wouldn't give for macaroni and cheese right now. Shits divine.
He dimly registered the scream as Elmo's voice before he clipped through the ceiling and was deposited on the floor below. He landed on his back, head colliding with the floor painfully and causing black splotches to shoot through his vision.
Diesel just lay there, too dazed and body too heavy to do anything but stare at the black ceiling. Through the swimming of his vision, he saw the black tentacles recede into the ceiling, leaving him lying there alone.
A groan sounded beside him, and he picked up on the unmistakable sound of something shuffling against concrete.
Well, not alone. But he was better off being so. Getting kidnapped by toaster demons and thrown in an unfamiliar room was annoying enough. But with your ex? Yikes. Awkward.
He heard Elmo stir from beside him again. He slowly got up off the cold stone floor, looking unsteady and unbalanced much like a drunkard after a late-night In a bar. He stumbled over to diesel, almost falling but catching himself.
He shook Diesel's shoulder rather roughly. "Hey, shit head, wake up" he hissed "what the fuck did I tell you about the store being dangerous? Now, look where we are! The rustle of fabric sounded as he gestured around the room wildly. "God damn you, why can't you ever listen to me??"
A pause. Diesel could tell Elmo was staring at him, he could practically feel him burning holes into the side of his head.
Elmo shook him again, though this time it was a tad bit lighter like Elmo was testing something.
"Hey." His tone was a bit more firm and controlled, much less heated with anger. "you better not be fucking dead, I still have to beat your ass"
Diesel groaned, pushing Elmo's hands away as he tried, and failed to open his eyes. The light was too bright, despite it being dim. It sharpened his developing headache and shot white-hot daggers of pain into his brain. Yep, he definitely had a concussion
"I deserve it I guess" he pressed his fingers to his eyes in a wince "where the hell are we, anyway?
"They dropped us off in some shitty room. Look for yourself"
After a moment of hesitation, diesel sat up, trying not to topple back over as his head spun. He glanced around once his vision stopped swimming, surveying the current predicament grimly
They were in a small room, it couldn't have been larger than ten feet in width. The walls, ceiling, and floor were made out of nothing but smooth concrete and there was nothing else in the room but a single lightbulb hanging in the center of the ceiling. It hung there by only a cord, slowly swinging back and forth as if pushed by the wind. Eerie
He didn't see his toaster anywhere...
Shit.
"...where the hell are we?" He repeated slowly, at a loss
Elmo snorted in annoyance. "How the fuck should I know? Better question yet: how the hell do we get out of here? There are no doors or windows, nothing but concrete. We're trapped in here!"
